Using power point Using power point Presentation Transcript

  • Using Power Point It was a dark and stormy night
  • Project Gallery
    • Go here FIRST to select the kind of background you want.
    • Pick one background for all of your slides UNLESS you have a really good reason to change one or more of them. In formal presentations, more than one is distracting
  • Select slide types
    • Click on the formatting bar with the A on it on the right hand side of your toolbar.
    • Keep that open while you’re working.
    • Select the slide type you want based on the type of information or media.
  • Adding text
    • Type!
    • Don’t overload your slide with text. You want us to LISTEN to you and see key pieces.
    • We don’t want to hear and read the same thing
    • We also don’t want ticker tape distraction
  • Adding Pictures
    • Drag OR
    • Copy and paste
  • Adding a scanned object
    • Select
    • Copy
    • Paste
  • Be creative!
    • Have fun with this but don’t go overboard with oodles of slides.
    • Focus on a few key slides--5-7
    • Your presentation can’t be more than 5 minutes, and you need to be TALKING most of it.
  • Save and Send
    • Save your file as a .ppt document.
    • VISTA and Microsoft 2007 save automatically as .pptx. You have to save back to the .ppt
    • Send your document to me as an attachment.
    • Check with me to make sure it sent!
  • Practice practice!
    • Practice telling your story and clicking the slide in the slide show ahead of time.
    • The Smart Board will be up and running (if the technology gods are with us that day.)
