Terms of use
1. Terms of Use
of the Bahamas Telecommunications company limited website(s)
1. Description of our site
Welcome to The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited (BTC). We provide users with
access to a collection of on-line resources, which may include general and personalized content,
communication tools, online directories, administrative services, purchasing services, download
areas, games and information (all of which, together with this and other BTC Web sites through
which they may be accessed or delivered, are collectively called our “Site”). We do this both
through our Site and by linking to Web sites of companies with which we work as well as by
linking to other sites we think may be useful to you or your business. Such sites may have their
own terms of use or applicable policies. BTC has also contracted with certain third party suppliers
to enable BTC to provide our Site to you. The term “BTC” (or “we”, “our” and “us”) includes all of
the subsidiaries and affiliates of BTC, as well as their successors and assigns.
2. Acceptance of terms
BTC provides our Site to you subject to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). By using our Site in
any way you are agreeing to comply with these Terms, which we may update from
time to time without notice. All amended Terms shall automatically be effective when they
are initially posted on our Site. Your continued use of our Site after any changes in these Terms
shall constitute your consent to such changes. Certain services available through our Site,
especially services for which you are asked to subscribe or pay money, may have their own
additional terms and conditions that will apply to your purchase or use of that particular service
and which will control in the event of any conflict with these Terms. These Terms govern the use
of our Site by viewers and other users (visitors); if we have entered into a separate contract with a
party for the insertion or other placement of content, advertising or other materials on any of our
Sites (including but not limited to Yellow Pages listings), then the terms of such separate
agreements will govern our relationship with such parties.
3. Registration, password and security
Whenever you provide us information on our Site, you agree to: (a) provide true, accurate, current
and complete information and (b) maintain and promptly update such information to keep it true,
accurate, current and complete. If you provide any information that is, or we have reasonable
grounds to suspect that the information is, untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, BTC or
its third party suppliers may suspend or terminate your access to our Site and refuse any and all
current or future use of our Site (or any portion thereof).
If any portion of our Site requires you to register or open an account you may also be asked to
choose a password and a user name. Please select a password that would not be obvious to
someone trying to guess your password, and change it regularly as an added precaution. You are
responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password and account, and you are fully
responsible for all activities that occur under your password or account identification. You agree
to immediately notify BTC of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other
breach of security. BTC will not be liable for any loss or damage that you may incur as a result of
2. someone else using your password or account, either with or without your knowledge. You may
not use anyone else’s account at any time, without the permission of the account holder.
BTC intends to take certain industry-accepted precautions from time to time to secure our Site or
portions thereof, and some portions of the Site may be labeled as “secure” in accordance with
industry practice in connection with the use of such precautions. However, you understand and
agree that such precautions do not guarantee that use of the Site is invulnerable to all security
breaches, and that BTC makes no warranty, guarantee, or representation that use of our Site is
protected from all viruses, security threats or other vulnerabilities.
4. Privacy policy; use by children
Our Site is intended for use primarily by persons 18 years or older. We do not intentionally collect
any personal, individually identifying information from children under the age of 13. Please view
our comprehensive privacy policy relating to the collection and use of your information through or
in connection with our Site. When you enter into transactions with or provide information to other
companies providing content or services in connection with our Site, you will be subject to their
privacy policies rather than ours.
5. Content and related user conduct
You understand that you are responsible for any content that you post or transmit on or through
our Site.
You agree to use our Site in a manner consistent with all applicable laws and regulations.
Specifically, you will not use our Site to distribute, link to, or solicit content that:
• is harmful to minors, threatening, harassing, abusive, defamatory, vulgar, gratuitously
violent, obscene, pornographic, libelous, invasive of another’s privacy, or racially, ethnically or

any content that is available via our Site. Without limiting the foregoing, BTC shall have the right
to remove any content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.
3. 6. Btc discretion over use, storage, and operation of our site
BTC may set limits regarding our Site and the use of any features or services associated with our

liable for the deletion, garbling or loss of messages, other communications, or other content
maintained or transmitted by our Site.
We may change or terminate our Site or any part of it without notice or liability. We may terminate
or change your password, account, or use of all or any part of our Site and may remove any
content from our Site without notice and for any reason, including lack of use or violation of these
Terms. We reserve the right to log off accounts that are inactive for an extended period of time.

of our Site to access, display, view, store and reproduce content that you have placed in publicly
accessible areas of our Site. Any content you post to publicly accessible areas is not subject to
our Privacy Policy.
Except for any personal, individually identifying information which we agree to keep confidential
as provided in our Privacy Policy, any feedback, data, answers, questions, comments,
suggestions, ideas or the like that you send to us will be treated as being non-confidential and
nonproprietary, and not subject to our Privacy Policy. We assume no obligation to protect such
information from disclosure and will be free to reproduce, use, and distribute the information to
others without restriction. We will also be free to use any ideas, concepts, know-how or
techniques contained in information that you send us for any purpose whatsoever including but
not limited to developing, manufacturing and marketing products and services incorporating such
information.

You agree to indemnify and hold BTC and its underlying content and service providers, and each
of their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, and employees, harmless from any
claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, made by any third party due to or arising
out of content you submit, post or upload to or transmit through our Site, your use of our Site,
your connection to our Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of
another. These obligations will survive any termination of your relationship with BTC or your use
of our Site. BTC reserves the right to assume the defense and control of any matter subject to
indemnification by you, in which event you will cooperate with BTC in asserting any available
defenses.
4. 9. Special limitations on use of our site

for the intended purposes of our Site. You may not sell, resell, or otherwise use or commercially
exploit our Site other than by using it for its intended purposes. Systematic retrieval of data or
other content from our Site to create or compile, directly or indirectly, a collection, compilation,

dealings, are solely between you and such advertisers or service providers. You assume all risks
arising out of or resulting from your transaction of business over the Internet, and you agree that

passcodes or passwords are required to access a number of our Web site services. In addition to
requiring the use of a unique passcode or password, all payments processed through our Web

and share ideas. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes
public information and you should exercise caution when disclosing such information. These
discussion areas may be monitored occasionally in order to enhance the safety and respect for
all of our customers and visitors, and off-topic, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate content of
materials of which we become aware may or may not be removed from the site during the course
of such monitoring. However, BTC is not responsible for any information posted or remaining on
these discussion areas.

provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. In addition, we share web
site usage information about our visitors to our sites with this company for the purpose of
managing and targeting advertisements and for market research analysis on our site and other
sites. For these purposes, we and our third-party advertising company may note some of the
pages you visit on our site through the use of pixel tags (also called clear gifs) or other similar

Institutes offering Basic Training Certificate Courses in India
There are several institutes that offer Basic Training Certificate, BTC Courses in India for teaching at the
elementary stage. Here is a list of some of the institutions offering BTC courses in India:
• Vivekanand College of Education, Uttar Pradesh
• District Institute of Education & Training, Uttaranchal

On completion of the Basic Training Certificate (BTC) Courses from an institute in India, one can apply to
various primary schools.
The quality of the education system plays a major role in the development of the country as it builds up the
human resource of the future. But the sustenance of a vibrant educational system depends to a large extent
on the quality of teaching at the elementary level. In order to improve the quality of the teachers, the
government of India has set up various institutes that provide Basic Training Certificate after the successful
completion of a course in teacher's training.
The institutes providing BTC, Basic Training Certificate courses are set up in almost all the states in India so
that maximum number of teachers can avail the training and help improve the quality of education in India.
The basic training certificate courses in the field of education are increasingly becoming popular as
recruitment boards of primary teachers in various Indian states regard the BTC as a part of the minimum
eligibility criteria for appointment of primary teachers.

TTC increases amount of
advertising space
avaliable on its vehicles
The cash-strapped TTC has increased the amount of space available for advertising on its
subway trains, buses and streetcars in a deal that will bring in at least $25-million a year and
opens the door to selling off station naming rights.
The 12-year, $324-million contract with Pattison Outdoor Advertising guarantees about $11-
million more revenue for the Toronto Transit Commission in its first year than the current
contract.
13. It also puts Pattison in charge of brokering any “new initiatives,” such as 3D LCD screens,
digital screens on the sides of buses and subway station or line naming rights.
Regarding naming rights, Vince Rodo, general secretary of the TTC, used the example of a
transit station in Philadelphia that was “brought to you by Verizon” as a possible model. He
estimated sponsoring a station could net the TTC single-digit millions, plus station
improvements.
In an interview Wednesday, Ryerson University president Sheldon Levy confirmed the
university’s interest in attaching its name to Dundas Station in order to help pay for station
improvements, a partnership that TTC chair Karen Stintz believes would make sense given
Ryerson’s proximity and use of the space.
The terms of the contract, drawn up by transit staff, stipulate that the TTC has “sole
discretion” over the sale of naming rights on its property. However, Councillor Janet Davis
raised concerns about a clause that says proposals “may” come back to the commission for
approval. Ms. Stintz assured critics the commission will have the final say on any serious
sponsorship proposal, and the public will have an opportunity to express its views. The
commission voted against bringing a naming right proposal to city council.
“The commission will have the ability to say yes or no to a bus that glows in the dark for
whatever the case may be,” said Peter Milczyn, vice chair of the commission.
The TTC could be facing a $100-million budget hole next year and is scouring for new ways
to fill the gap. The new advertising contract increases the number of buses or streetcars that
can be “wrapped” in ads from 35 to 50 (out of about 1,800 buses and 245 streetcars) and
doubles the number of subway cars to 24 (out of about 700 cars).
Station domination — when an advertiser seemingly covers a station from top to bottom in a
single theme — remains limited to four stations: Finch, Union, Eglinton and St. George, but
an unlimited number of bus backs are available for ads, up from 50 now.
Ms. Davis and other public space advocates opposed the changes. “Not only will you have
station domination, you will have system inundation,” Ms. Davis said.
Mr. Rodo said the more permissive contract and longer term, up from seven years, will give
companies more flexibility when creating ads, and making new technology viable. There is no
change to where advertisers can place ads inside vehicles, he noted.
14. History
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is a public transport agency that operates
transit bus, streetcar, and rapid transit services in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Established
in 1954, the TTC has grown to comprise four rapid transit lines with a total of 69 stations,
as well as over 149 bus routes and 11 streetcar lines, of which 148 routes make 243
connections with a rapid transit station during weekday rush hours.
The TTC operates the third most heavily used urban mass transit system in North
America, after the New York City Transit Authority and Mexico City Metro.[2] In 2011,
the average daily ridership was 2.59 million passengers: 1,294,300 by bus, 307,600 by
streetcar, 42,500 by intermediate rail, and 936,300 by subway.[1] The projected 2012
ridership is 507 million riders.[3] The TTC also provides door-to-door services for persons
with physical disabilities known as Wheel-Trans; in first quarter, 2010, 8,900 trips were
made through this service daily. The TTC employed 11,861 personnel in 2008.[4]
Colloquially, the subway cars were known as "red rockets", a nickname originally given
to Gloucester subway cars, which were painted bright red and which have since been
retired. The name lives on as the TTC uses the phrase to advertise the service, such as
"Ride the Rocket" in advertising material, "Rocket" in the names of some express buses,
and the new "Toronto Rocket" subway cars, which began revenue operation July 21,
2011.[5] Another common slogan is "The Better Way".

Yonge Subway Construction 1949
15. Privately operated transit services in Toronto began in 1850. In later years, a few routes
were operated by the city, but it was 1921 when the city took over all routes and formed
the Toronto Transportation Commission to operate them. During this period service was
mainly provided by streetcars. In 1954, the TTC adopted its present name, opened the
first subway line, and greatly expanded its service area to cover the newly formed
municipality of Metropolitan Toronto (which eventually became the enlarged city of
Toronto). The system has evolved to feature a wide network of surface routes with the
subway lines as the backbone. On February 17, 2008, the TTC made many service
improvements, finally reversing more than a decade of service reductions and only minor
improvements.[6]
