Standard of Living
Income – some families have several wage earners in well paid jobs, some rely on state benefits.
Family size – Families who have more children have to spend more money on food, clothes, transport etc.
Family type – Families with two or more adults are likely to find things easier than a lone parents.
Describe the reasons why some families may have a higher standard of living than others (KU 6)

Lone Parents and Employment Employers may not want to take them on as they think they will need time off because of their children. Need to find a job that is close to home in case of emergencies Need to find a job which suits school hours. Part Time=Low Paid. Describe some of the problems that lone parents may face finding and keeping suitable employment (KU 4)

Government policies to help families with dependant children. Choose 2 policies from the 5 above. For each policy, describe the ways in which it helps families with dependent children. (KU 8 marks)

Explain the ways that the Government can help meet the needs of people who are unemployed (KU 6 )

Inequality amongst the unemployed Gender Age Disability Ethnicity Choose one of the groups and explain, in detail, the reasons why members of that group might have difficulty in finding a suitable job. (KU 4 )
