      • high poverty, still in recovery post-Khmer Rouge, corruption rife
      • education system: public with additional costs, developing curriculum, resource poor
      • Libraries and resources: university libraries, some school libraries, limited electricity (regional and rural), capacity for donations a problem

    • Teachers Across Borders
      • Australian and American organisation
      • Provides professional development for teachers and school administration
      • Training Cambodian teachers to run the program at the end of the 10 year agreed period
      • Workshops and in 2010, translating the Khmer curriculum

    • Library Development Project
      • Met with Kolap Mao – Director of Library Systems - Pannasastra University Library, Phnom Pehn
      • Working to train school librarians, assist in developing school/community libraries, create networks
