  • 1. Mr. McNally 9th Grade NHES Standard 1: Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health
  • 2.  I can develop an exercise that specifically develops each component of health related fitness
  • 3.  What is your current level of physical fitness?  How does your fitness level compare to others teens that age your gender and age?  Where to start?
  • 4.  Physical fitness- Physical attributes that people have or achieve that relates to the ability to perform physical activity  Health- A state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease.
  • 5.  Muscular Strength  Muscular Endurance  Cardiorespiratory Endurance  Flexibility  Body Composition
  • 6.  The max amount of force a muscle can apply in one contraction.  1 contraction of muscles being used
  • 7. Increase in resistance = Increase in strength Think of activities we perform inside the weight room and in the gym More weight less reps  Bench press  Squats  Push-ups  Sit ups  Lunges  Shoulder press
  • 8.  Ability of the muscles to contract over an extended period of time.  Several contraction of muscles being used
  • 9. Increase in repetitions = Increased endurance  Push ups  Sit ups  Squats  Bench press  Pull ups  lunges  Light weight  More repetitions
  • 10.  The ability of the circulatory and respiratory systems to supply fuel and oxygen during sustained physical activity
  • 11.  Should stay moving for an extended period of time  Low to moderate intensity for at least 30 minutes  Vigorous intensity with short breaks for 15 to 20 minutes  Jump rope  Swimming  Jogging  Running  Kick boxing  Walking at a brisk pace
