  • School of Pharmacy, Office of Education and Instructional SupportTeacher for 8 years, PPT presenter and viewer for many yearsNot an expert, but rather this will be a discussion of lessons learned and how to think through presentations
  • Designing—not to be complicated but to simplify and enhancePresenting—ho to think through your presentation (not just slides)Sharing—how to deliver content via slidesLearning—focus on the learner
  • Prezi is free and web-based. You can save the presentation as a PDF, but if you want to use the animations, you will need to have a web connection when you present.Articulate allows you to record over PowerPoint slides as well as create quizzes and assessments. To learn more go to the Learning Technologies training video at the CLE support center: https://moodle.ucsf.edu/course/view.php?id=98Keynote is an Apple product for viewing and editing slides from Apple devices. Slides can also be saved as PowerPoint files
  • These are guidelines. There isn’t a PPT police force that will hunt you down, but it’s a general framework to help you best deliver your content.
  • Color is not universally accessible for people who see colors differently.May not hold up when converted/saved
  • Use PDFs when uploading to web (CLE, Ilios) in order to preserve content and ensure consistencyStudents generally prefer to have the whole slide rather than the notes version from which to study/annotateTo save a black and white PDF, go to “Print”, choose PDF, and select “Pure Black and White”
  • Use outline/slide sorter to organize presentationValuable information can go in handouts or notesUtilize hidden slides
  • Consistent fontsContrasting colorsConsistent and basic color scheme
