4. 4. About Movilitas
History
Creation in February 2006, today 50 employee with headquarter in Mannheim.
SAP “Spin Off”: >15 employee of Movilitas have worked at SAP before
2007 Start-Up of the year in Mannheim
Focus
RFID, Product Authentication, Track & Trace (SAP AII, SAP OER)
Mobile processes on Basis of SAP products and Movilizer (MAM, MAU, ITS/NW Mobile, SAP MRS, Movilizer)
Movilitas is…
…Movilitas Consulting AG: Consulting services
…Movilitas Solutions GmbH: Development of the Movilizer
Partnering with the Q Data Group for Mobile Track and Trace in the USA
Movilitas istodayleadingpartner in thefurtherworldwiderolloutofthecurrentsolution.
Movilitas is the leading supplier in defining and impleneting the global Track & Trace strategy. SAP OER and SAP Auto ID Infrastructure were implemented and linked to a loyalty management program for the promotional use of serial number information.
Movilitas was selected by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM) to write the user and business requirements for the future pan-european Track & Trace service of medicines. This Service has to be implemented in 36 countries.
Agenda
Track & Trace Business Background
What are the key aspects of Track & Trace?
Challenges of Track & Trace
What are the main challenges of Track & Trace?
SAP Object Event Repository (SAP Track & Trace)
How can SAP OER help and which features does it provide?
Movilitas Movilizer
What is the Movilizer?
Movilizer for SAP Track & Trace
How can the Movilizer help and which features does it provide?
7. 7. Track & Trace Business Background
“Tracking” means monitoring forward movement of finished goods through the supply chain and ensuring that all taxes and duties have been paid and volumes verified.
“Tracing” means working backwards through the supply chain to establish where any genuine product was diverted out of the legitimate supply chain.
8. 8. Using the example of the pharma industry
Up to 15 percent of all medicinal products in the world are counterfeit (WHO)
Drugs often lack essential active ingredients, or contain dangerous contents, which can result in treatment failure or even death
The global sale of counterfeit drugs will reach $75 billion in 2010 – a 92 percent increase in five years
As a result:
Pharmaceutical companies are working in conjunction with standards organizations to develop a system for tracking and tracing medicines globally
9. 9. Another example…Software
10. 10. Software – Part 2
The rate of global software piracy climbed from 41 percent in 2008 to 43 percent in 2009
In 2009, for every $100 worth of legitimate software sold, an additional $75 worth of unlicensed software made its way onto the market
In 2009, the worldwide value of unlicensed software hit $51.4 billion
As a result:
This highlights the need for governments, law enforcement and industry to work together to address this vital economic issue
11. 11. The Current State of Standards
Global standards for track and trace vary enormously
In the U.S., multiple states have enacted e-pedigree regulations requiring serialization (which is the process of marking individual items with a unique identifying code by applying an RFID tag or printed barcode directly to the product so it can be traced through the supply chain)
In Europe, a number of countries also are demanding varying types of serialization solutions
December 2009, all pharmaceutical industry products distributed in Turkey were mandated to have the ECC200 Data Matrix barcode made up of Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), serial number, expiry date, batch number and human readable text
A similar standard without serialization is being implementing via French CIP 13 legislation, which has a deadline date of December 31, 2010
12. 12. Key Elements of Track and Trace
An effective track and trace solution requires implementing three levels of functionality
Print and verify
Serialization
Track and Trace
With this functionality, manufacturers can systematically print and verify marking numbers on all products (lot number, check digit, product classification, etc.), mark each product with a unique serial number, and create a central database of this information. The central database allows manufacturers to track and store the location and status of each product as it travels through the supply chain until it is sold to the customer.
13. 13. Agenda
Track & Trace Business Background
What are the key aspects of Track & Trace?
Challenges of Track & Trace
What are the main challenges of Track & Trace?
SAP Object Event Repository (SAP Track & Trace)
How can SAP OER help and which features does it provide?
Movilitas Movilizer
What is the Movilizer?
Movilizer for SAP Track & Trace
How can the Movilizer help and which features does it provide?
14. 14. The Challenges of Serialization
Implementing global standards such as EPCIS standards will present a number of challenges for manufacturers, especially when it comes to serialization:
Guaranteeing the uniqueness of serial data
Implementing a process and securing the proper equipment to efficiently apply and read barcodes
Overcoming physical product limitations that may make it difficult to label products
Printing and verification in the high-speed
manufacturing environment.
15. 15. The Challenge in pharma industry
More than 25,000 pharmaceutical packaging lines worldwide requiring modification
Implementing industry-wide track and trace standards presents substantial challenges to both manufacturers and machine builders
Countries around the world have already implemented track and trace legislation
Because most pharmaceutical manufactures operate globally, they must still comply with these rules
16. 16. General Challenges
Handling of high Data Volumes
Archiving & Partitioning
Global Process & Solution Design
Involvement of internal and external partners
Agree on common processes
Setup of solution landscape
Standards & Compliance
Uniqueness of Serial Numbers and standards
Patency of serialization in the supply chain
17. 17. 3 important stages & conclusion
The typical process involves three stages
Starting with print and verify
Moving to product serialization
And finally reaching complete product traceability
Track & Trace solutions provide manufacturers with an increased ability to
Manage product expirations
Decrease the impact of product recalls
Minimize the counterfeiting losses
Supply Chain Transparency
