“Computer Parts”
A computer is a collection of parts .
These parts are called components , or devices .
Each part does a different job .

Computers “work” with something called information , or data .
We can’t touch it.
But we can see it!

There are four big things a computer does with “information” or “data”:
Input
Process
Output
Storage

Input
This is how we get information “into” a computer.
What computer parts do we use to input information? (Hint: these are things we touch)
Look around the room for clues.

Keyboard
Mouse

Process
Once the information is inside the computer, the computer can process it.
What computer parts are used to process information? (Hint: the computer does all the work)

Process
Computer Tower
CPU (inside)

Output
Once the computer is done processing the information, it can output it.
What computer parts are used to output information? (Hint: you can touch, see or hear output)

Headphones
Monitor
Printer

Storage
Some information is left on the computer. This is called storage .
What computer parts are used to store information? (Hint: some of these parts are inside a computer.)
