  2. 2. METRIC SYSTEM OFMEASUREMENT The metric system is a system of measuring. It has three basic units: m the meter for length kg the kilogram for mass S the second for time With those three simple measurements we can measure nearly everything in the world!
  3. 3. METRIC TABLE A decimal system of units based on the meter as a unit length, the kilogram as a unit mass, and the second as a unit time.
  4. 4. METER The fundamental unit of length in the metric system, equal to 100 centimeters or approximately 39.37 inches.
  5. 5. KILOGRAM The base unit of mass in the International System, equal to 1,000 grams (2.2046 pounds).
  6. 6. SECOND A unit of time equal to one sixtieth of a minute.
