Birth preferences
1. Birth Preferences for Kimberly Ohara-Borowski
DUE DATE: 4/14/2012
Also attending birth: Shane Borowski (husband), Doula Brooke
Scheduled to deliver at Hoage Hospital Newport Beach
We have chosen to have our baby at Newport Hoage over all other hospitals in the
area as we have heard how incredible the staff is with patient care!
The following is intended to express our preferences and desires for the birth of our
baby. It is not intended to be a script; we fully realize that situations may arise such
that our requests cannot be granted.
We are looking forward to the big day with you. Thank you in advance Kimberly
and Shane!
I would like to…
Have my husband Shane and Doula Brooke King (alt. Janell) be present at my
birth
Have the freedom to walk around when allowed by Dr. Illeck
Take a shower
Avoid analgesia, anesthesia or augmentation
Borrow a PT ball for labor
Have the freedom to push in various positions (hands & knees, squatting)
Protect my perineum with mineral oil, warm compresses and no episiotomy
(I prefer to rip)
Delay cord clamping and have my husband Shane cut the cord
Have immediate and prolonged skin-to-skin contact with our baby (The
Golden hour)
Initiate breastfeeding as soon as possible after delivery
Delayed eye antibiotics, bathing and vitamin K
Postpone Hepatitis B injection until the first pediatric appointment
Less EFM the better (intermittent versus constant)
Have a saline lock IV only if necessary
In the event that a Cesarean Section is necessary, I would like…
To avoid being given “memory fading” medication
To have my husband Shane and Doula Brooke present
To be given a low transverse incision and would like it double stitched
Our baby to be given to my husband immediately after birth
To hold the baby on and chest and to breastfeed as soon as possible
To have my baby accompany me and my husband to the OR recovery for
bonding and breastfeeding if possible-I am willing to sign any waivers
necessary
Sincerely,
Kimberly Ohara-Borowski and Shane Borowksi
