founded on November 18, 1918. It 
has been recognised as a 
sovereign state since 1920 despite 
occupations and rule by the 
Soviet Union (1940-1941, 1945- 
1991). 
 Our National Holiday is November 
18, the date of the proclamation 
of Latvia’s independence in 1918. 
 On August 21, 1991 Latvia 
declared the independence, re-established

diplomatic ties. 
 Latvia in 2004 became a member

located in North-eastern Europe on the east

“My gold is my nation, My honor is her honor”
History 
 Since 1934 the school has its own badge 
for school leavers. It symbolizes its place of 
location – where the Aiviekste and the Daugava 
meet together – and the blue colour symbolizes 
dreams and hopes. 
 Every year on the 1st Saturday of February our 
school leavers meet at school.
