  2. 2. What is Mitosis???? <ul><li>The process by which a Eukaryotic Cell divides/separates the chromosomes in the nucleus into two separate cells. </li></ul><ul><li>These cells are identical daughter cells!! </li></ul>
  3. 3. The Phases……Interphase <ul><li>I is for Identifiable! </li></ul><ul><ul><li>In this stages chromosomes appear to be a big jumble! </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Chromosomes are copied </li></ul><ul><li>This stage is technically NOT mitosis…we are just getting ready! </li></ul>
  4. 4. The Phases...........Prophase <ul><li>P is for Pairs </li></ul><ul><li>Chromosome pairs are easily seen during this phase. </li></ul>
  5. 5. The Phases……..Metaphase <ul><li>M is for Middle </li></ul><ul><li>Chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell </li></ul>
  6. 6. The Phases………Anaphase <ul><li>A is for Apart </li></ul><ul><li>Chromosomes are pulled apart towards opposite ends of the cell. </li></ul>
  7. 7. The Phases…………Telophase <ul><li>T is for Two Cells </li></ul><ul><li>A new nuclear membrane forms </li></ul><ul><li>The cell begins pulling apart to create two separate cells!!! </li></ul>
