  • 2. MAIN CHARACTERISTIC Cartilaginous skeleton. Gill slits. Pectoral fins. Fusiform body.
  • 3. Clade: SELACHIMORFA, sister group of rays. Apex predator:  Great white shark, tiger shark, blue shark and hammerhead.
  • 4. HABITAT Adapted for a wide range of aquatic habitats: Shallow coastal habitats, Deep-water ocean floor habitats, Open ocean.
  • 5. REPRODUCTION Ovoviviparity: Producing eggs that hatch within the female's body. Great white shark
  • 6. Oviparity: Expulsion of undeveloped eggs in the water. Catshark
  • 7. Viviparity: Giving birth to living offspring that develop within the mother's body. Hammerhead
  • 8. FEEDING Sharks eat almost anything: fishes, crustaceans, mollusks, marine mammals, and other sharks.
  • 9. Hammerhead  stingrays Bull shark  other shark Smooth dogfish  loobster Tiger shark  turtles
  • 10. SHARK AND HUMANS The great white, oceanic tiger, and bull sharks are large, powerful predators, and may sometimes attack and kill people.
