The video concept is about a successful businessman who slowly loses his identity due to the competitive nature of his work. The video will show his seemingly perfect work life and depressed personal life as he breaks down from a lack of identity. Scenes will flip between him at work and at home drinking and being violent. It will end with him falling into an old chair, looking at friends singing while the band plays, representing his loss of identity. Sarah will coordinate, Kieran will film and edit, and Jack will perform and write lyrics. Filming locations will include indoor and outdoor settings to match the song's mystery. A plain black or white mask may represent the character's lack of identity.
2. The concept for the video is centred around the fiction within
someone's head being stolen through heavy dabbling in the
corporate game. The video depicts a well respected business
man figure slowly driven to insanity through the lack of identity
that he has within the world of work which is highly dog eat dog
and competitive.
The video will show the character as he slowly
breaks down into full lack of identity with him
eventually becoming ‘faceless’. The contrast in the
video will be that of a seemingly ‘perfect’ work life
where he is well respected and his personal life
that is centred around depression, alcoholism and
violence.
3. The Lyrics
• Time it made the
strong look weak,
as the throne tied
up your mind to
speak of it,
Your Kingdom cries
for war not peace,
as you try to mend
it peak by peak
Flick between flashback of when
he is at work and the best to
him at home drinking a lot.
The man starts breaking things
and throwing stuff around in
his house overall being very
violent
Showing him going to work
and cleaning up after the
night before
Shows a old worn out chair and
the man falling into it
4. The Lyrics
• For I fall beneath
the man,
as he plays the
song to from
another land,
take the head from
the bottom of the
well,
in time the
fictionary tells
you
Showing the man falling below
the rest of friends at a
party
The man takes his
head out of the
toilet to take it
everything in
Goes back to the lead singer for
the final line of the chorus
Looks at his friends
singing the song and
flicks to the band
5. Roles within the group
Sarah:
coordinating
arrangements, planning,
time schedule and make up
Kieran: casting,
filming, editing
Jack: performance,
casting, lyric writing
6. Locations
For the locations for our video, we
need to ensure the settings reflex the
mystery and eeriness of the song. We
would like to have a range of settings
to make the video captive and equal
the lyrics in the music.
Some scenes would be filmed indoors
(bathroom, kitchen floor, empty rooms)
and other scenes outside ( forests,
empty beaches, fields).
7. The lack of identity could be
represented by a mask of some
sort either plain black or white.
This would look effective as it still
has human features unlike a
zombie mask but gets across the
lack of identity.
This idea is effective as it shows the
formality surrounding the suit yet still
features the white face.
