  • 1. Swine Flu is an acute respiratory disease highly contagious, which normally affects pigs. What is Swine Flu or Swine Influenza?
  • 2. It spreads through small particles in the air, or through Contact with infected animals. How Can I Get Infected?
  • 3. People usually get sick through contact with pigs, although it has been informed of some cases of human-to- human transmission. How Can I Get Infected?
  • 4. It spreads between humans through coughing or sneezing of infected people and touching something with the virus on it and then touching your own nose, eyes,and mouth. How Can I Get Infected?
  • 5. Swine flu cannot be spread by pork products, since the virus is not transmitted through food. How Can I Get Infected?
  • 6. The swine flu in humans is most contagious during the first five days of the illness although some people, like children, can remain contagious for up to 10 days How Can I Get Infected?
  • 7. High fever of 101 or 102 Intense Headache Severe Coughing that Makes your Chest Hurt. Chills Signs and Symptoms
  • 8. Sore Throat Body Aches Fatigue Runny Nose Lack of Apetite Signs and Symptoms
  • 9. Nausea Vomiting Diarrhea Dizziness Signs and Symptoms If you feel two or more symptoms, tell your parents or teachers.
  • 10. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Place the tissue in a plastic bag and throw it in the trash. What Should I Do to Stay Healthy?
  • 11. If you don`t have a tissue to cover your mouth, use the inside part of your elbow. Remember to wash your hands everytime you cough or sneeze. What Should I Do to Stay Healthy?
  • 12. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective. What Should I Do to Stay Healthy?
  • 13. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way. Stay home if you are sick, and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. What Should I Do to Stay Healthy?
  • 14. Avoid kissing and hand shaking. Avoid attending crowded places, like concerts, games, theatre, and parks. What Should I Do to Stay Healthy?
  • 15. Open the windows. Ventilate your home. Eat fruits and vegetables that have vitamin C. What Should I Do to Stay Healthy?
