  1. 1. PINTEREST Window shopping or Premium Advertising Site?
  2. 2. SURVEY
  3. 3. Pinterest is a pinboard-style photo- sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, and hobbies. Users can browse other pinboards for images, "re-pin" images to their own pinboards, or "like" photos. The site was founded by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra, and Evan Sharp. It is managed by Cold Brew Labs and funded by a small group of entrepreneurs and investors
  4. 4. Pinterest users can upload, save, sort and manage images, known as pins, and other media content (e.g. videos) through collections known as pinboards. Pinterest acts as a personalized media platform, whereby users' content and the content of others can be browsed on the main page. Users can then save individual pins to one of their own boards using the "Pin It" button, with Pinboards typically organized by a central topic or theme.

  6. 6. Why people now are choosing Pinterest over Facebook
  7. 7. Have you noticed companies displaying posters of their products in their offices? The purpose is to acquaint visitors with the products and to highlight the innovation and function it represents. However, the impact of these posters is limited to the office and a few other public areas where they are displayed. Pinterest helps to solve this 'limited space' problem, since it is a social media website that lets users 'pin' photographs they like and share them with friends and followers. Once registered on the site, the user can pin photographs on a virtual pin board available on the Pinterest home page.
  8. 8. POSTERS
  9. 9. Apart from being a light social media tool in the vein of Instagram, Pinterest can also be used as a serious tool to familiarise people with a user's business. Companies in a few sectors such as food, fashion, event management, photography, advertising, etc. can easily leverage Pinterest to boost their brand. Brands operating in other sectors too can start pinning to increase the number of people visiting their site and consequently, the business FASHION&FOOD
  10. 10. A very good example of Advertising Smoyz, an ad agency out of Israel, created a Pinterest campaign for their client Kotex. While many businesses are pinning their products and ideas on Pinterest for others to share, Smoyz took a different approach. They created “Woman’s Inspiration Day” for Kotex and then went to Pinterest to find 50 inspiring and influential women. They then studied their boards and their pins to discover what inspires them. Once they figured out their individual inspirations, they then bought or created these inspirations based on their pins and sent them a customized gift box containing their inspirations along with a box of Kotex.
  11. 11. The results were surprising, but expected. All 50 women not only pinned the gift boxes and the items on their Pinterest boards, they also posted the pictures and talked about the gift boxes on Facebook, Twitter, and even Instagram. Smoyz recorded 2,284 interactions with an unbelievable 694,853 total impressions.
  12. 12. RICH PINS Pinterest recently introduced a new tool called "Rich Pins," which lets retailers provide extra information about what's being pinned. For instance, if online retailer Etsy displays an image, Pinterest also includes the price, size and color, says
  13. 13. How do you promote your brand?
  14. 14. Optimize Your Account Make sure to include "Pin It" sharing buttons on all your webpages to maximize shareability. Set your company logo as your Pinterest avatar to increase your brand recognition. Also, write an informative description for your "About" section, one which includes relevant keywords as well as links to your main website and other social media profiles. And remember that sharing interesting, informative and engaging content is an absolute must to gain new followers
  15. 15. Know Your Audience The key to success on Pinterest is to cater your content to the site's user base. Folks of all ages use the service in roughly equal numbers, but 79% of Pinterest users happen to be female. In fact, moms are 61% more likely to use Pinterest than any other demographic. 60% of Pinterest users have had some form of college education. 69% of users earn between $25,000 to $75,000 per year.
  16. 16. Formulate a Strategy Do you have a strategy for Pinterest? It takes more than just pinning your products to successfully advertise and engage people on the site. To build your brand awareness you need to constantly curate interesting, informative and entertaining content like images and videos linking to your target sites. By fostering a community around your brand, you'll be able to maximize your potential and presence on Pinterest!
  17. 17. Pin it to Win it So what does the anatomy of a successful product pin look like? At its heart are hash tags and links to the specific pages of interest within your product catalogues—these make it easy for people to identify and find your products. People don't want to land on the same dummy default landing page for every one of your posts pointing to some larger catalogue. Also, including the price on a pin generates an average of 36% more likes. Another great strategy is to include featured sales and discounts on your landing pages.
  18. 18. Organize it Enable your Pinterest campaign success with proper organization. Create theme-based boards by grouping together similar images, products and other content. It's ok to also spread some of your pins around to be featured on multiple different boards. As users can choose which individual boards of yours they subscribe to, having a little overlap can help introduce your audience to undiscovered portions of your catalogue.
  19. 19. Grow Your Community To grow your community in the best way, start by curating great content and repinning valuable and relevant pins from select influential customers. You can also create contestsencouraging your customers to share their favorite products for free prizes. Finally, stay alert to new features and trends on Pinterest to stay ahead of the social media curve.
  20. 20. 5 Ways To increase Sales On Pinterest #COUPONS-are hot on Pinterest. The words free, discount, and deal have long been selling staples in marketing success, and they still are. Whether you use store coupons, online coupons or group coupons, deals promoted through Pinterest sell your product. Consumers love the prospect of getting a good deal. Combine that with very visual nature of this social site and you can have a home run for your product sales.
  21. 21. Make a coupon board on your business Pinterest account. Pin images of your deal, with details of your offer, and a link back to the specific coupon page on your website. A great coupon offer will get you tons of likes, repins and shares of your offer.
  22. 22. #SEO With 70 million users on the site, many Pinterest shoppers are looking for your product. To stand out and be found by your eager Pinterest consumer, there are a number of optimization tactics you need to incorporating. 1. Make sure your company username is optimized. 2. 2. Include your company keywords in your “About” section. 3. Include links back to your website 4. 4. Use Pinboard names that reflect your keywords
  23. 23. #Rich Pins Pinterest added this year is rich pins. Rich pins enable you to include a lot more details about your pins, and this information is automatically updated
  24. 24. #Contests
  25. 25. #Cross-Promotion No matter what site you are promoting your products on, it’s always good practise to cross-promote your site. On Pinterest, there’s two great ways to cross-promote your pins and page: 1. Pin it Button 2. Pinterest TabThey’re very simple to set up. You go to the Pin it Button site on Pinterest, and complete the information. You choose the Pin it image you want, submit your URL, paste your image file, and build it.
  26. 26. CONCLUSION For the Business; it is a platform to showcase and attract the window shoppers plus genuine buyers. For Individuals; it is a place where you get to see the things that you are looking for, instead of browsing thru the website of the providers and you can even see similar products and make a better choice
