      • One of the most obvious benefits of using a wiki is the ability to offer a quick way to collaborate textually, while creating a content rich web site.

    • 34. Explaining and Tagging Page Edits
      • When you edit a page, you should complete the following two items (located on the bottom of your edit screen)
        • Note: short sentence or phrase to summarize what and why you edited the page (e.g. corrected spelling, inserted rubric, uploaded group product, etc.)
        • Tags: several keywords that indicate the nature/topic of your edits (e.g. Teaching The Tools, Class Contract, Podcast, etc.)

      • After you have completed your edits, notes, and tags, click Save.

      • Add links to another wikipage, a external website.

      • Thus while wikis are very open, they provide a means to verify the validity of recent additions to the body of pages.
        • The most prominent, on almost every wiki, is the &quot;Recent Changes&quot; page—a specific list numbering recent edits and discussions within a given timeframe.
      • With an educational wiki, you can also change the settings so that only site members can see the page

      • If you don't want your students to have to create accounts themselves, just email [email_address] with a list of usernames, email addresses (if you have them - if you don't just leave them out), and passwords in the following format and they’ll create the accounts for you.
