      • learn and practice techniques for preparing speeches and presentations
      • improve communication & listening skills

    3. Who is the audience? interests? needs?
    4. What? What do you want them to know? How will you tell if they understand? What do you want them to do?
    5. How ? Best way to present your ideas Organization: Beginning, middle and end Visual aids or handouts?
    6. When? How much time do you have? Normally paced speaking.
    7. Why? Your subject is important to you and you want your audience to understand it!
    8. Organize your speech in a logical sequence
      • Opening: Introduce what you are going to talk about.
      • Middle: Discuss topic and give at least three important points.
      • Conclusion: Summarize and propose action.

      • Take a deep breath.
      • Pause, smile and count to three before saying anything.
      • Look around at everyone.

      • No matter how nervous you may feel, don’t tell the audience!

      • Stand up straight!
      • Move naturally.

      • Did I connect with the audience?
      • Did I Use visual aids? Hand-outs?
      • What do you think the strengths of your presentation were?
      • What do you think the weaknesses of your presentation were?
