  • The chaos on how most Marketer’s collaborate today with many disparate tools.

  • Your teams are struggling.Lots of pressure and they’re being expected to do more with less.Deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Project management, task assignments and accountability
  • You have a bunch of specialized tools each for a specific purpose. Gets difficult remembering where each file lives, remembering logins and passwords for all the tools, and it’s also costly to maintain subscriptions to all those tools. Nothing is centralized.
  • First, lets take a look at some reasons why NOT to take flight into the Cloud.[Read Slide]..and then employees scramble “to develop a strategy” or “buy some social software” or “to get into the Cloud.”This is silly. Its akin to building a solution that is looking for a problem.
  • Its akin to building a solution that is looking for a problem. A cloud strategy just for the sake of the cloud isn’t good enough. Just like “getting social” for social sake isn’t good enough.Today, these words are overused…. “Cloud” and “Social” have become empty cliches…..with everyone having a different understanding of what they mean.http://spacecollective.org/userdata/c5NcMf4e/1263651558/hands-free-cell-phone.jpgOrhttp://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7snEihuZDxQ/T8-bz4QfA1I/AAAAAAAACnM/CiBjo_i-u8U/s1600/Bridge-to-nowhere.jpgOrhttp://regex.info/i/JEF_027676_sm.jpg
  • ….talk about the silly Microsoft commercial “…to the cloud!”Don’t “go to the cloud” just for “sake of the cloud.”Think of the cloud as a tool. As a means to an end. Not as the destination.
  • The cloud enables solutions. It should solve specific problems. Here are two examples (travel and advertising)
  • To properly understand these words and to properly understand why the cloud matters…its important to step back and look at the industry and market trends that are driving the cloud.
  • To properly understand these words and to properly understand why the cloud matters…its important to step back and look at the industry and market trends that are driving the cloud.
  • The challenges within the travel and advertising industries were collateral damage to the early success of the Internet. “Conventional, non-cloud solutions” couldn’t fix these industries. These industries were forced to search for new solutions to solve these NEW problems.
  • In both examples…….the “shift to the cloud” was part of the solution. The technology in the cloud wasn’t the driving force to move to the cloud…..it was the need to solve a NEW business problem. The cloud presented a NEW solution to a NEW problem. It wasn’t an amorphous, “cloud strategy” that bore the final solutions – it was the need to solve very specific problems that pushed JetBlue to leverage cloud VOIP technology.
  • Knowledgebases
  • Every employee has the opportunity to contribute / distributed teams.Accountability for every employee – audit logs, task assignments, etc.
  • We believe that collaboration success goes beyond the cloud….beyond the tools. It goes without saying that without a purpose – collaboration is destined to fail. We’ve heard the many quotes, “without a plan, you plan to fail.” and “where there is no vision, the people will perish.” “We believe that every collaboration starts with a purpose…not with a tool.
  • Collaboration success also hinges on understanding HOW to collaborate with others.
  • Collaboration success depends heavily on the culture of the collaborators.
  • Of course the tools are important as well
  • Which brings us back to Central Desktop:At Central Desktop, we believe in “helping people work together in ways they never thought possible.”Its our company’s mission statement. Notice that, even as a cloud-based software company, our emphasis is not on the technology, it’s not about the cloud…it’s about the people. It’s about the people working together.
