  • In Lawson M3 7.1, we have a new field within the work request and work order tables to hold the Requester. In the Quick Request function, MOS185, the requester will default from the user who is logged on providing the F13 setting is correct. In previous releases, the responsible would default from the user who was logged on, this is a change in functionality. The Responsible goes back to its original meaning, ie the person responsible for managing the work, which could be a planner or supervisor. The requester field has been made available in many functions and well as in sort options and panel versions.
  • In some companies, the requester is expected to identify which planner is responsible for planner a particular work request when they create the request, this is sometimes difficult because the request might have no clue or it might not be the normal planner for that area (for example if it was IT equipment).
  • In Lawson M3 7.1, we can now use the responsible on the request as the Planner who will be responsible for coordinating the work (now that we have an official requester field) However, how should the requester know which planner it should be allocated to? From M3 7.1. this field will be automatically populated from the “Responsible” field on the position (MOS440) or the “Planner” field from the equipment (MMS240/E). The user can of course enter their own value and this will not be overwritten. The selection priority is therefore: a) the user’s own value entered in MOS185; b) the Planner from the equipment if an equipment is entered or the Responsible from the position if a position was entered.
