  • 3. Why do high school students drop out?
    • Low attendance, failing can identify future dropout
    • Up to 40% of 9 th graders with highest dropout rate, repeat
  • 4. Who is dropping out?
    • Students within age: 16-24 year of age who come from the lowest quartile are about 7x more likely to have dropped out then his/her counter partner who came from highest quartile
    • Approximately 1.3 million color
  • 5. What causes student to dropout?
    • Stress

  • 6. How can you handle stress?
    • Deep breaths
    • Think positive
    • Think of accomplishments (not weaknesses)

    • 69%: weren't motivated
    • 47%: classes not interesting
    • 45%: enter high school poorly prepared by early schooling
    • 35%: were failing
    • 32%: left to get a job
    • 25%: left to become parents
    • 22%: take care of relative
