What Do Interior Designers Do?<br />Enhance the function, safety, and aesthetics of interior spaces<br />Plan, design, and furnish interiors of residential, commercial, or industrial buildings. They make designs that work for the intended purpose, like raising productivity, selling merchandise, or improving life style.<br />Many Interior Designers specialize in a particular field, style, or phase of interior design.<br />

The Types of Interior Designers Include But Are Not Limited To:<br />Residential- focus on living spaces<br />Commercial- focus on business spaces<br />Green and Environmental- focus on environmentally friendly design and materials<br />Accessibility- focus on making spaces that are easier for the disabled to use<br />Budget- focus on making spaces that cost less money<br />
  4. 4. Education & Additional Training <br />College degree (2-4 years)<br />Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes <br />A license is required in 24 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico<br />

Where They Work<br />Interior Designers work in various places depending on what kind they are<br />Large corporation interior designers- usually work regular hours in a comfortable setting <br />Designers in small firms- generally adjust their workday to work with their client’s schedule <br />Consultants and self-employed designers- tend to work long hours in a smaller, more congested environment<br />
