  • 2. History of Alcohol and Drug Abuse
    • Alcohol is a depressant drug which slows down the function of the CNS
    • 3. Alcohol can become more than a depressant drug, it can become a disease
    • 4. It is the most commonly used drug by kids between the ages of twelve and seventeen
  • Causes of Alcohol and Drug Abuse
    • Many drink alcohol because they like the way it makes them feel
    • 5. Some drink to escape from life's hardship's much like today
    • 6. Peer pressure, unhappiness, and major illness are the main reasons people drink
  • Symptoms of Alcohol and Drug Abuse
    • Changes in hobbies and activities may occur
    • 7. Sudden temper tantrums or resentful behavior
    • 8. Overall change in personaliy and attitude
  • Treatment of Alcohol and Drug Abuse
    • Behavior treatment can be used to help patients engage in treatment process
    • 9. Medications can be used to help re-establish normal brain functions and prevent relapse and diminish cravings
    • 10. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) has helped many problem drinkers; it's main job is to be a self-help group for those who want to stop drinking and stay sober
