    5. 5. + Big Ideas – Teaching  Provide/leverage regional & statewide tech support systems to meet current/emerging needs of teachers & administrators  Prioritize technology at the CDE with a cabinet level position  Facilitate the implementation of online teaching & learning, teacher & administrative certification, and professional development standards  Encourage and reward teachers for use of and risk-taking with technology  Develop a clear plan for summative & formative assessments of the policies, programs and services as implemented
    6. 6. + Big Ideas – Learning  Promotethe use of online instructional materials that engage and build 21st century competencies  Builda political coalition for “anytime, anyplace, any pace” learning  Advocatefor broad implementation of existing tech frameworks (CTE, Library, etc.)  Find a way around current ADA funding to approaches that do not limit teacher flexibility with technology in synchronous and asynchronous instruction
    7. 7. + Big Ideas – Assessment Draw upon assessment approaches from sectors outside of education Develop an assessment system that provides feedback to students with validation from experts in the field for “real world” learning Use ranked data sources & open source to provide technology infrastructure and sharing of learning resources Create personalized formative and summative assessments for Common Core State Standards (including infrastructure and professional development) Communicate about data access, privacy issues & changes in assessment system
    8. 8. + Big Ideas – Infrastructure Ensure every student has access to one-to-one technology with compliance guidelines for Williams settlement Create minimum bandwidth standards; scalable & flexible infrastructure; connect existing data systems Leverage service models that exist in County Offices of Education Collaborate with industry partners/public-private programs Directly engage the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Emphasize safe and appropriate use of technology Create Cabinet level position at the CDE for technology
