  3. 3. Introduction It was an interesting project , I’d learn a lot from this project as I have to know almost everything to built a good city that attract people to live in. I did researches on past , present and future city which related with underground. In addition , I realized that taking care of environment is very important task. Human will pay the consequences for what we did for the pollution today… KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 3
  4. 4. The City 2.1 City is the place where people gather in large amount and live together. 2.3 What makes a city : • Stable economy • Healthy environment • Good transportation system 2.4 What make a good city : (HOPSCA) • Home • Office • Parking • Shopping Mall • Apartment KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 4
  5. 5. Studies of Ancient City 3.1 Located in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey. The largest ancient underground city in the world. 3.2 The city I’m concentrating is Derinkuyu . 3.3 Derinkuyu can hold up to 15,000 residents underground and it have 600 doors with storage room. The builder of the city is still remain mystery as it’s build with supreme technology , some people or scientist think it’s alien. 3.4 It became a very famous tourist attraction now. 3.5 They even have air tunnel for gas exchange ! KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 5
  6. 6. Studies of Present City 4.1 In 1962 , the first underground shopping center Place Ville-Marie had been designed by I.M.Pei. 4.2 I chosen Montreal it’s because Montreal is a present underground city. It stretches for 33 kilometers beneath. 4.3 According to official static of the www.aviewoncities.com , its corridor of Montreal underground city linked up 10 metro stations, 2 bus terminals, 1,200 offices, about 2,000 stores including 2 major department stores, approximately 1,600 housing units, 200 restaurants, 40 banks, 40 movie theatres and other entertainment venues, 7 major hotels, the University of Quebec at Montreal campus and the University of Montreal, Olympic Park, Place des Arts, a cathedral, the Bell Centre (home of the Montreal Canadiens), and 3 exhibition halls: the Place Bonaventure, the Convention Centre (Palais des Congrès de Montréal) and the Olympic Centre. KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 6
  7. 7. 4.4 The city is awesome , the largest present underground city in the world ! 4.5 I’d learned a lot about zoning the underground city and how it was built. KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 7
  8. 8. Studies of Future City 5.1 I’d study about ‘The Hive’ from the video game ‘ Resident Evil’ 5.2 ‘The Hive’ was build by Umbrella cooperation which developing biological weapon. Raccoon city was built underground to keep the specimen save and hiding it from government. KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 8
  9. 9. 5.3 The Hive was built far beneath the Raccoon city for development of biological weapon. 5.4 The Hive only have one exit and entrance , it don’t have emergency exit purposely to keep the experiment classified . 5.5 I’d learned a lot within studying this city , it gave me a lot of idea of the design of my city. KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 9
  10. 10. The ‘X’ City 6.1 At the end of 2033rd , total population on our planet , Earth have exceed the maximum population and government are taking action to execute less economy supported people to control the population. 6.2 American’s rebellion had took their part to taking over the government and I’m the rebellion leader of Malaysia. I proposed an underground city to solve the problem peacefully. 6.3 Most of Malaysian are unemployed although they have great skill on something. They need more job opportunity and food. 6.4 They just simply need a shelter and food to settle them. KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 10
  11. 11. 6.5 In a nutshell , Malaysia never ask for more than shelter and food , they are kind , tolerant and determined. KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 11
  12. 12. The Hive 7.1 I came up the idea combining the design of honey bee comb with ant colony. I took the design of honey bee comb but built it underground. 7.2 It is underground because the we’r sort of land , the cheapest and easiest way is go underground. KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 12
  13. 13. Primary Hub Secondary Hub Tertiary Hub KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 13 Modular Concept of My City
  14. 14. Primary Hub -the city center of The Hive -The Hive City Hall (THCH) build in the middle that connection to the surface -the biggest hub in the city -able to view the whole city from this hub KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 14
  15. 15. The Hive City Hall High Class Residential area Skyscraper Golf Court MRT line River Alley Grass land Tree Fish farm KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 15
  16. 16. Secondary Hub -industrial area and farm -less populated area -man made river across the hub -small size than primary hub , bigger than tertiary hub KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 16
  17. 17. Industrial area - -electricity generator -radioactive area -slightly higher pollution index Hydroelectric Generator Nuclear Power Plant Transformer KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 17
  18. 18. Flatland Slope Farm (in layer) -main food resources -less populated area -MRT line across the field for transportation KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 18
  19. 19. Tertiary Hub -reserved forest -smallest hub in The Hive -‘green lung’ of The Hive -no entry without permission , strictly protected by law KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 19
  20. 20. MRT North and South Line MRT East and West Line Monorail Smart Tunnel (strictly for bike only) KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 20 Major Transportation Line
  21. 21. MRT / Monorail -adopted the idea from cable car and bullet train -hanging under the sky bridge -travel faster and further in shorter period -save cost in long run -eco-friendly KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 21
  22. 22. Semi Auto Bicycle (SAB) Soft fluffy cushion seat Underground GPS system Dynamo paddle , when the paddle is moving Kinetic energy will convert into electrical energy by itself KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 22
  23. 23. Mosque Farm KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 23
  24. 24. The Hive City Hall -gigantic building -‘huge’ pillar supporting The Hive -enhanced hexagon glass to reinforce the building’s structure KelvinNg|0315081|GroupD| FNBEApril2013|Taylor’s University 24
  25. 25. Conclusion Building a city isn’t a easy task , trouble come to us all the way. Yet , no matter how hard is it , there will be a solution. I also practice critical thinking for during this project , for example what if landslide happen , what if the river over float. We always complaining about the city we live in , we never be thankful and from now on I appreciate those effort they put to built the city , built house even building for better tomorrow !
