What is the STaRChart? The Texas Education Agency Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC) developed the Texas School Technology and Readiness (STaR) Chart, an online resource tool for self-assessment of your campus’ and district’s efforts to effectively integrate technology across the curriculum. This rubric serves as the standard for assessing technology preparedness in Texas K-12 schools.
The Texas Teacher STaR Chart Will Help Teachers Answer Critical Questions: 1) What is my current educational technology profi le in the areas of Teaching and Learning and Educator Preparation and Development? 2) What is my knowledge of online learning, technology resources, instructional support, and planning on my campus? 3) What evidence can be provided to demonstrate my progress in meeting the goals of the Long Range Plan for Technology and No Child Left Behind, Title II, Part D?
The Texas Teacher STaR Chart Will Help Teachers Answer Critical Questions: 4) In what areas can I improve my level of technology integration to ensure the best possible teaching and learning for my students? 5) What are the technology standards required of all beginning teachers and recommended for all current Texas teachers?
What Does This Mean For Us? We want to take a moment and reflect on question number 4. In what areas can I improve my level of technology integration to ensure the best possible teaching and learning for my students? Work with your team and develop some goals for yourself.
The Campus: Now that you have developed some goals for yourselves, let’s look at ways to think about our campus goals.
