  • 5. 5 | P a g eWhat Are We Going To Do?We are going to start build some free traffic streams to our website. The way I seea website is an island in the sea. The sea is the internet. Now what we want is tobuild stable and solid roads to the island so that people can reach the islandeasily. Ok, I might start to sound a bit silly now but I see Google as an highway. Ifyou end up on the first page of Google then you have built your solid highway toyour island. To build multiple small bridges to the island, our website, we want tomake use of different kinds of methods. The STEP-BY-STEP method is there to giveyou some sort of structure. This is how I usually do it but it does not mean youcan’t switch up the order of the steps. However I advise you to follow thisstructure for now.Ok, random, I know. Let’s get to work ;)
  • 6. 6 | P a g eStep 1 – Keyword Research & ArticlesThis can be such a pain in the ass. At least I think so, but it is oh so important! Ihope you have done or will do some keyword research in order to build yourwebsite around that. I’m pretty much sure you have about 3 keyword phrases youwant your website to rank for. If not, find at least 3 (included your main keywordphrase). Write them down:Keyword Phrase 1: .....Keyword Phrase 2: .....Keyword Phrase 3: .....Ok now there are a few very good article directories you definitely want yourarticles to be submitted to. Good article directories have a good page rank andonce you submitted your articles, they are able to rank quite high in Google. Youwant to submit your articles to the following directories:EzineArticles.comGoArticles.comArticleBase.comTheFreeLibrary.comArticleCity.comNow there are a lot of different techniques when it comes to article writing. Iwould say one article for each keyword to each directory to start it off. So thatwould be 3 quality articles for each article directory. The more the better though. You could actually outsource article marketing and have this done for you, but ifyou like writing then go for it :) The key is consistency here.A tip: make an RSS feed from the article URL as well as your website and submit itto feedage.com. This will help your back linking system and will help others to beable to find your website in the search engines better. :)
  • 7. 7 | P a g eStep 2 – Optimising Your Blog/WebsiteDuring this step you will have to optimise your blog/website. How do you do this?In general you will have to have the following on your blog: Your main keyword in your title Your keyword throughout the posts for about 3-4 times An anchor text with the main keyword linking internally to another page ofyour website or the home page of your website An image with keyword anchored titleSuggestion: Not many people may know about this very useful WordPress plugincalled SEOPressor. (It is a paid product though). What it will do is actually makeyou add certain SEO techniques on to your site. It will show you ticks once youhave completed certain steps and it will actually give you a certain percentage ofhow well your page does for SEO. It’s a very useful tool which helps you to getyour pages as search engine optimised as possible.Anyhow, we were looking for FREE traffic so the steps I gave you above should dowell enough for your site to become pretty search engine optimised.Something else you might want to do is go over your webpage and look at it as ifyou were a visitor. What do you like about it and what not? Is it an easy read? When people visit websites they scan through the information. Does your websiteget the most important messages across without having read it all? You mightalso want to add some space at some places or you might want to break the textup for an image. People like to see images so obviously you could score pointsthere too. Make it look good and professional and you will tick the “conversions”part as well ;)
  • 8. 8 | P a g eStep 3 – Add URLs / Social BookmarkingNow you actually want to be findable for the search engines as well as for peoplegoing through bookmarking websites.First add your website URL to the main search engines which is our beloved friendGoogle and also Yahoo. To add a website to Google you can easily just create anaccount and add it through the “Webmasters tools”.To add your website URL to yahoo you will have to make use of the BingWebmaster tool. Simply create an account for that and you’ll have submittedyour website to the most important search engines.Another tool you could make use of is www.submitdomainname.com. It is free; allthey ask for is putting a link on your website to theirs. Now you don’t have to putthat link on the first page of your website. It could actually be a great way to getyour website submitted to about 140 search engines.Furthermore social bookmarking needs to be done. This could be a painful boringprogress but I have seen good results coming from this process. Now, I want tostress that you shouldn’t use these tools to spam. Social bookmarking is a veryeffective source for free traffic, and is one of the ‘can’t do without’ toolbox ofevery serious blogger. To start generating free traffic from the social bookmarkingsites, you will have to sign up with the sites Digg, Stumbleupon and Delicious. These are the biggest and most well known social bookmarking sites.A tool to ease the pain of this process a little bit is socialmarker.com. With thistool you can actually submit bookmarks to a lot of bookmarking websites withonly one click. (Prior to that you will have to manually sign up with all of the socialbookmarking sites though.)
  • 9. 9 | P a g eStep 4 – Get HIGH PR Back LinksHigh PR back links are crucial to make your website being able to compete withwebsite on the front page that have a higher PR rank than you have. In generalthese links will boost your position in Google really well. So you will always wantto have those kinds of back links. One of the high PR rank websites is eHow. Simply register with eHow and includeyour URL with your main keywords in anchor text in the “About Me” box.You could do the same thing with blogger.com. This is a blog platform by Google.Create an account, edit your profile and add your website URL with your mainkeyword anchor text to the “About Me” section. The next website where you want to get a back link from is StatCounter. Youmight know it as a tracking service. Well it is indeed but it also has a forum.Register, go to your cpanel, and edit your details. Enter your website URL into the“Your Homepage” box. This way you could use any other high PR ranking websites as well. These are justthree that you could use but of course there are more websites like that out therewhere you can just simply add your website URL in an “about me” section.
  • 10. 10 | P a g eStep 5 – Create BlogsYou could start blogs from a lot of different websites like hubpages and eblogger.I want to specifically talk about Squidoo. Squidoo is really good for traffic. Ingeneral, “lenses” that are created can really rank well in Google. Besides that, thelens can be found from inside of Squidoo too. A lens is pretty easy to set up, withthe modules that you can simply add in. I like Squidoo more than Hubpages andalso it seems that Hubpages has “no follow” links. Therefore I’m all for usingSquidoo. What´s good about Squidoo is that, it has a high PR rank. It would be great tocreate a few lenses, using your keywords and then do some cross linking inbetween those lenses. Of course link to your website too but also link to the otherlenses. This has proven to be quite powerful too.
  • 11. 11 | P a g eStep 6 – Social MediaThis part might be kind of obvious. The use of social media is so widely used. I´msure you have got a Facebook account or Twitter account. Social media can beutilised for free traffic to your website as well. You could set up a Twitter accountespecially for your website and start to gain followers. Then you could drive freetraffic to your website by just one single Tweet! On Facebook I usually create a page, where people can like the page. This can bequite effective as well because you will be able to post and other people who“liked” the post will see it show up in their story list. You need to put your Facebook and Twitter details out there so that people canactually start to follow you. You can actually add your twitter account to yourEzineArticles account. When people read your article and check out your profilethey will see your twitter details and can start following you that way. It will betargeted traffic because the person got to read your article because of the use ofthe keywords, you target.Tweet Getter is a free tool you can use to get more followers on board on yourTwitter account. It is free, give it a shot. You will have to build a list and what isbetter than having a free tool to help you.Another tip I could give you is give free Webinars. This will bring a lot of freetraffic to your website if you just simply give a free webinar. Promote it on theWarrior Forum for example and then go out there, do the webinar and get lots offree traffic :)
  • 12. 12 | P a g eStep 7 – Blog Comments & Forum ParticipationBefore I even start talking about this part I want to stress: DO NOT SPAM. Iabsolutely hate spam. Today it’s so obvious when people spam it is just pathetic.People are more educated on spam nowadays and they can easily pick it out. What you want to do is put honest and good quality content comments out there. The blogs you pick obviously need to have to do with the subject your website isabout. That way you know that it is the same kind of people you want to have onyour blog. What you should keep in mind is that it is better if the blog is a “do follow” blog,so when you put your link out there, the search engines will follow your link andtherefore it will count as a back link. Put the link in anchor text with yourkeywords. Some blogs will not allow you to post a link in the comments but youcan simply add it to the description about yourself. Sometimes there are standardforms for adding homepages for example.Read a couple of entries and pick out one that interests you, where you canrespond with a comment that has some real "meat" to it. What I mean by "meat"is some substance. Making a comment on a blog that says "Great idea! Thanks forsharing" is NOT a good comment and will often not get approved which meansyou have wasted your time. Give the blog post you are commenting on, some realfeedback on what you think or additional information that might help readersunderstand what the blog post is trying to tell its readers. This way you willdefinitely not spam and it won’t be seen as spam either.
  • 13. 13 | P a g eFurthermore you can join at least three high traffic forums. It can give you somenice back links too as well as website exposure via the signatures and profilepages. The following forums are worth checking out when you have an onlinebusiness in the Internet Marketing Niche:Warrior Forum (of course): 400.000 membersDigital Point Forum: 500.000 membersAffiliate4u Forum: 68.000 membersGet involved and start commenting (same as the blogs, do not spam). And thegood thing about participating in the forums is that you can actually learnsomething as well!
  • 14. 14 | P a g eStep 8 – Free Classified AdsClassified ads are a great way to get more exposure for your website. Classifiedadvertising is free, so it is an ideal method for you to use if you are just startingout and your budget is tight. Some online classified ad sites have an upgradeoption, which will provide you with more benefits, but it is not necessary toupgrade to be successful with this type of advertising.First of all you will need to decide on what you want to advertise. It is better toadvertise a sales page or a lead capture page than advertising a homepage. Makesure that the page that you are advertising is attention grabbing.Next is writing the advertisement. It is better to actually take some time to thinkabout how to summarize everything into a catchy ad.Another important thing is making sure you advertise your website page in theright category. This obviously has to do with the recurring term “targeted traffic”;).What you can do is ad different kinds of ads to different classied ad websites. Then track your ads and see which ones work best. It could simply a couple ofwords in your ad that can make the difference. You can use the following classified ad websites:craigslist.orgusfreeads.comclassifiedads.comadpost.comoodle.com
  • 15. 15 | P a g eStep 9 – Make YouTube VideosScary ey? Make a YouTube video. Well, you don’t have to appear on it yourselfbut what you can do is for example make screen capture videos. These videos cansimply show the person how to do something, so you would make a “How To”video. Another option is to just make a video with illustrations and text. But ofcourse you could also appear on the video telling something. That is indeed themost powerful thing to do in my eyes. What you will do by appearing on video is that you show that you are real. Youaren’t a spammer. You have something to tell, you have something that addsvalue to certain things. You come across more accessible and also you will buildsome sort of a relationship with your viewers. You will become more trustable tothe other person. Here too, you will want to use your keywords, so that when YouTube visitorssearch with those keywords, they will be able to find your video. Put a link to yourwebsite on your profile page as well as in the description box of your video. It isbest to put it as the first thing in the description box as it will only show a part ofit when playing the video. Your link will be visible in that small part of thedescription box. (Most people are kind of lazy or do not see the reason to openthe description box to see all of it)
  • 16. 16 | P a g eStep 10 – ExpandSure enough you will have gained some more free traffic by now. What you wantto do next is to expand. Make more of everything! Because you have gained moretraffic you might make sales by now and earn some money. You could actually usethis money to reinvest in paid traffic or outsourcing.Outsourcing could be a good way that will make the work load less heavy for youso that you have time for other things to build your online businesswhile in the meanwhile the money will make its way toyour bank account. I know that all of those steps can be boring attimes and therefore when outsourcing these boring jobs you willprobably be more productive!Outsourcing does not have to be that expensive either. When you go to Fiverr.com you can hire someone to dosomething for you for only $5.Expansion, scaling it up, is what you will have to do to gain more visitors to yourwebsite and thus to make more money online.
