  • When we criticise each other – the “Solution” in the box that said that Editorial was the most important dept- that Advertising and Marketing were not needed and that Editorial does not get the respect they deserve. This type of Hierarchical thinking cannot give way to a team that works. Accountability is important because it helps to trace where a problem has originated so that we can find a better solution but sometimes we mistake accountability for finger-pointing- “Its not our fault, it was their fault” is not acountability- it is laying blame but by and large – we are all responsible for each other and the dept were in because HELLLOOO – we are working for the same company or are we? – It is like when we were younger and our parents told us to watch our brothers and sisters and when something happened- wed go like – It was his fault but parents said – You are responsible for him/her. The same rule applies This is why when Advertising or Circulation doesn’t make budget, we sometimes feel as if we have all missed the mark- it should always be that way.
  • All stakeholders – Now when the internal team doesn’t work – what do you think the external external team sees - do they still feel part of the team, do they want to be part of the team that does not function as a team: - Our internal bitterness sometimes gets to the external team – when ppl vent their frustrations – be very careful to whom you speak about your company, what you say and how you say it.

  • THE “EXTERNAL EXTERNAL” TEAM• Customers• Suppliers• Shareholders
  • DOES THE TEAM “WORK?”• A group itself does not necessarily constitute a team. Teams normally have members with complimentary skills and generate synergy through a coordinated effort which allows each member to maximise his/her strengths and minimise his/her weaknesses.
