VLITE NODE – SOLUTION for PRECISION FARMING2

In past years in world an extensive research and development work is being done to ensure information technology use in agriculture; long range wireless sensor network (WSN) creation for specific agricultural use. Existing WSN solutions are in experimental development phase; their implementations is not possible without the specific WSN technology developers’ assistance and they have a short working range (ability to guarantee communication between sensors only at a range of several tens of meters); therefore their implementation in large area is very expensive. Realistic WSN implementation is unthinkable without specific WSN technology that includes physical nodes, sensors, operating system, application programming environment, competence centre support. The paper describes new long distance RFID based technology implementation - VLIT NODE.

Web services <ul><li>Metadata about sensor network </li></ul><ul><ul><li>There are important information about topology of sensor network, positions of particular sensors, types of sensors and observed phenomenons, accuracy and frequency of measurement. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Observed values </li></ul><ul><ul><li>From metadata users can choose what set of values are required. By using proper service observed values can be requested. Such request can be parameterized by time period, location, phenomenon etc. There is also possible to define the output format (e.g. xml, json, csv , chart raster file) </li></ul></ul>11 - 13.5.2011 IST - AFRICA 2011

W EB services <ul><li>The operations of the SOS are separated in four profiles: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>core profile – three basic operations that shall be provided by every SOS implementation </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>transactional profile – operations to register new sensors and insert their observations into SOS </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>enhanced profile – additional optional operations for getting observations or feature of interests by special parameters or for getting schemas of types or models. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>entire profile – implements all operations </li></ul></ul>11 - 13.5.2011 IST - AFRICA 2011
  19. 19. Visualisation <ul><li>HSLayers (Help Service + OpenLayers) combines capabilities of ExtJS and OpenLayers and several helping scripts to establish truly Web GIS applications.
