    • What is YOUMedia?
    • YOUMedia  is an innovative, 21st century teen learning space housed at the Chicago Public Library's downtown Harold Washington Library Center. YOUMedia was created to connect high school students with books, media, mentors, and institutions throughout the city of Chicago in one dynamic space designed to inspire collaboration and creativity.
    • By working in teams and individually, teens have an opportunity to engage in projects that promote critical thinking, creativity, and skill-building through the use of the multi-media equipment.

    • The students created a multi-media project based off of Neil Gaiman’s book, "Neverwhere". The students also used the Comic Life App. to complete this project.
  • 4.
    • The students received new Chicago Public Library cards during their visit.
  • 5.
    • Some of the students had the opportunity to make a audio recording of themselves reading their poetry.
  • 6.
    • Playing the digital reading games was one of the many activities the students enjoyed.
  • 7.
    • The Phillips Academy student work was displayed on monitors throughout the YOUMedia Center.

    • The high point of the day was meeting author Neil Gaiman! The students had the opportunity to ask the author questions , get their books autographed and take pictures.
    • Everyone was proud of Malcolm and Terra who provided special greetings from Phillips Academy and was interviewed by the MacArthur Foundation.

    • Final Words….
    • - This is the first time Phillips Academy participated in the One Book, One Chicago celebrations at YOUMedia.
    • - 11 out of 17 students received new library cards.
    • - Many of the students stated that they would return to YOUMedia over the summer and throughout the year.
