    • 9.  Blue Lake is Sitka’s drinking water source. The water must meet drinking water standards during construction and commissioning. The Blue Lake hydro project must be operated to meet existing electrical loads during construction. We have limited ability to control lake level. The timing of the Generation Outage is established by the seasonal reservoir inflow not our ability to prepare for the outage.

GENERATION OUTAGE MUST GO LIKE CLOCKWORK AT MULTIPLE SITES – MAJOR WORK ITEMS ARE: INTAKE TUNNEL CONNECTION; PLUG OLD TUNNEL; OPEN UP NEW ONE STEEL LINER INSTALL AT NORTH AND SOUTH PORTALS (NEAR FVU) SURGE SHAFT CONNECTION STEEL LINER AT LOWER PORTAL PENSTOCK SECTIONS REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT WITH ANCHOR BLOCKS WET TEST FIXED WHEEL GATE; FILL POWER TUNNEL WET TEST NEW TURBINE AND GENERATOR – ONE UNIT ONLY COMPLETE MILESTONE 5 – OPERATION OF FIRST UNIT AT 75% GATE BY OWNER FOR 12 HOURS
