  2. 2. What is radiation? <ul><li>Radiations are harmful for us, but it doesn't mean that all radiations are harmful for the human body.
  3. 3. There are two kinds of radiations. They are non-ionizing and ionizing.
  4. 4. Ionizing radiation is especially more danger than non-ionizing. </li></ul>
  5. 5. What is reason that ionizing radiation is danger? <ul><li>Ionizing radiation is cause of cancer.
  6. 6. X-rays, gamma rays, alpha particle and beta particle especially have an effect on the human body.
  7. 7. However, it is necessary for us to treat cancer. </li></ul>
  8. 8. What happens when we have been under radiations for a long time? <ul><li>First, we will feel nausea and fatigue. Possibly we may vomit.
  9. 9. Next, it comes hair loss and diarrhea.
  10. 10. When we are heavier exposure, central nervous system of our bodies are broken by radiations. If worst comes to worst, we may die. </li></ul>
  11. 11. Picture of example <ul><li>The left picture is about internal exposure and external exposure. As you can see, internal exposure is more danger than external exposure because it is always to bask in radiations. </li></ul>
  12. 12. For example, cesium-137 and iodine-131 <ul><li>There are big difference between cesium-137 and iodine-131. It is a difference of half-life.
  13. 13. Half-life of cesium-137 is longer than one of iodine-131.
  14. 14. Both of Cesium-137 and iodine-131 are very danger for the human bodies. </li></ul>
  15. 15. About dangerous of cesium-137 and iodine-131 <ul><li>Iodine-131 is preferentially absorbed to the thyroid gland. Then it causes some tumor.
  16. 16. Cesium-137 pollutes some foods. If people eat these foods, cesium-137 goes everywhere in the human bodies.
  17. 17. If these things go in our bodies, we can not clean. </li></ul>
  18. 18. Summarize <ul><li>Radiations are very danger and very harmful for the human bodies.
  19. 19. There are many kinds of radiations. For example, cesium-137 and iodine-131.
  20. 20. We can not clean radiations in our bodies. </li></ul>
