  • Abraham Lincoln was the 16 th president of the United States.
  • Why is Abraham Lincoln so important to US History?
  • Abraham Lincoln was the president during the Civil War.
  • He was determined to keep the United States of America united as one country.
  • He gave one of the most famous speeches in US history… The Gettysburg Address
  • The Gettysburg Address is still a renowned speech today because of its depiction and appreciation for the freedoms given in America as well as a profound dedication to fallen heroes in the Civil War.
  • Lincoln was responsible for the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.
  • The Emancipation Proclamation declared freedom to the slaves in the Confederacy.
  • Some facts about Lincoln.
  • Lincoln did not go to school. He taught himself how to read and write.
