      • NCDC Internet Sites Links for Career Planning From the book, The Internet: A Tool for Career Planning , (Second Edition, 2002) by JoAnn Harris-Bowlsbey, Margaret Riley Dikel and James P. Sampson Jr. The book is available from the NCDA online Career Resource Store. The authors granted permission for use by NCDA. The links were verified and updated January 2006.

    4. National Career Development Guidelines (from ACRN)
      • The National Career Development Guidelines (NCDG) help educators, career development professionals and community leaders develop high-quality career development programs for youth and adults nationwide.
      • The Internet could be used in 4 ways for the purpose of providing career counseling and/or career planning services to clients. These are:
      • To deliver information about occupations, including their descriptions, employment outlook, skills requirements, estimated salary, etc. through text, still images, graphics, and/or video.
      • To provide online searches of occupational databases for the purpose of identifying feasible occupational alternatives.
      • To deliver interactive career counseling and career planning services.
      • To provide searches through large databases of job openings.

      • The Riley Guide: Explore Career Options The Riley Guide is a directory of employment and career information sources and services on the Internet.
