  10. 10. WHAT IS GOAL SETTING ?<br /><ul><li>Goal setting is a process for thinking about your ideal future and for motivating yourself to turn this vision of the future into reality.
  11. 11. The process of goal setting will help you where you want to go in life.
  12. 12. Properly set goals can be incredibly motivating and as you get into the habit of setting and achieving goals ,you will find your self confidence builds fast.</li></ul>6<br />
  13. 13. SMART GOAL<br />A useful way of making goals more powerful is<br />to use the SMART mnemonic. SMART usually<br />stands for:<br /><ul><li>S = Specific

  18. 18. Be Specific<br />Goals should be straightforward and emphasize what you want to happen. <br />Specific is the What, Why, and How of the SMART model.<br /><ul><li>WHAT are you going to do? Use action words such as direct, organize, coordinate, lead, develop, plan, build etc.
  19. 19. WHY is this important to do at this time? What do you want to ultimately accomplish?

  21. 21. Measurable<br />If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it<br />Choose a goal with measurable progress, so you can see the change occur. Be specific! <br />Establish criteria for measuring progress toward the attainment of each goal .When you measure your progress, you stay on track, reach your target dates, and experience the exhilaration of achievement that spurs you on to continued effort required to reach your goals.<br />9<br />
  22. 22. Attainable<br />When you identify goals that are most important to you, you begin to figure out ways you can make them come true. You develop that attitudes, abilities, skills, and financial capacity to reach them. <br />Goals you set which are too far out of your reach, you probably won’t commit to doing<br />10<br />
  23. 23. Realistic<br />Realistic, in this case, means “do-able” not easy. A realistic project may push the skills and knowledge of the people working on it but it shouldn’t break them.<br />Devise a plan or a way of getting there which makes the goal realistic. <br />Be sure to set goals that you can attain with some effort.<br />Set the bar high enough for a satisfying achievement.<br />11<br />

Definition:-<br />It is basically a technique,used to appraise the performance of employees.in this method the rater is required to distribute his rating in the form of a normal frequency distribution.the purpose is to eliminate the rater’s bias of central tendency.Here also ranking techniques is used .this method is highly simple to understand and easy to apply.<br />33<br />
  55. 55. Secondly,it helps to reduce bias invovled in straight ranking and paired comparisons.but in this method employees are placed in a certain category and not ranked within category. The method is based on the questionable assumption that aal groups of employees have the same distribution of good and poor performance, the rater does not explain why an employee is placed in a particular category. Specific job related performance criteria is not used in ratings.the rater may resent the restriction placed on his freedom of choice.<br />34<br />
