  3. 3. What is social bookmarking?• A way of making collections of web-based resources• Web-based tools – accessible anywhere with an internet connection• Basic principle of bookmarking pages – like ‘favourites’ in a web browser• But there are several advantages of social bookmarking tools
  4. 4. Benefits of social bookmarking confined to one• Web-based tools – not computer - interoperability• Tagging can be used to help manage and structure your collections• Sharing and discoverability• Group formation• Dissemination – improves search ranking

Which tool is right for you• Will you be bookmarking a lot of journal papers? – DOI lookup, e.g. Connotea, Zotero• Are you building a literature review? – EndNote-like plugins, e.g. Zotero (or Bibtex export)• Would you like to be able to ‘follow’ others updates, like Twitter? E.g. Diigo, Zotero
