  • 2. Theodor Seuss Geisel
    Born in 1904 in
    Massachusetts
    His mother sang him to sleep with nursery rhymes.
    I wonder if that has anything to do with his natural ability to rhyme?

  • 3. Dr. Seuss
    He attended Dartmouth College, where he became the editor in chief of their humor magazine.
    Do you know what an editor in chief does?
    This is where he first
    started signing his name
    as “Seuss.”
  • 4. Dr. Seuss
    Ted went on to study at Oxford, in England, this is where he met his first wife Helen Palmer.
    After returning to the states, he pursued a career as a cartoonist.
    What do you think a cartoonist does?

  • 6. Dr. Seuss
    He also created animated films during World War II.
    After that, he started illustrating a collection of children’s sayings. The book was not very successful.
  • 7. But his illustrations were noticed and this is how he came to write his first book, “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street.”
    It was rejected 27 times before it was published.

  • 8. Dr. Seuss died in September of 1991.
    He wrote 44 books.
