  • 2. DEFINITION
A meme  (rhymes with Team) is a combination of cultural symbols, ideas and/or practices, which are sent from one to another through various forms of media such as writing, speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena.
Supporters of memes view them as cultural synonyms to genes, in that they self-replicate, mutate and respond to  selective pressures

  • 3. HOW?
    • An idea that is propagated through the Web. This idea may take the form of a hyperlink, video, website, hashtag,or even just a word or phrase. They may spread from person to person via social networks, blogs, direct email, news sources etc....
  • WHY?
    • It’s FUN! We live in a world that is filled with problems, wars, tragedies and frequent bad news.
    • 4. Humor and laughter are truly the BEST medicine!
    • 5. It’s the digital media version of a practical joke.
  • Rick Rolled
An Internet meme phenomenon. It is a bait and switch, where a person provides a hyperlink that they claim in relevant to the topic at hand but it actually takes the user to the Astley video of “Never Gonna Give You Up”. When the person clicks on the link and is led to the web page she is said to have been “Rickrolled”
One of the most public Rickrolling: Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
