    • 1. Midsummer or Ligo is Latvian annual celebration of the summer solstice, 23 and 24th June. During the Midsummer night, people sing, dance and make bonfires.
    • 2. On the eve of the Midsummerday women gather flowers, greens and herbs, and make wreaths for women and men. Men usually wear wreaths of oak leaves.
    • 3. On Midsummer Eve people pick greens and flowers, and walk around meadows and fields waving and singing.
    • 4. On Midsummer night people search for a fern flower. The person who finds it acquires wealth and happiness, learns the secrets of the past and the future.
    • 5. On Midsummer people usually eat caraway cheese and bacon rolls, and drink beer.
