Small business seo ~ 2 key factors to

 1. 1.
 2. 2.

Small business SEO (search engine optimization) is one of the most important skills for any small business owner to learn and master in this day and age. More than ever before, consumers are turning to the internet to find solutions to their various problems. The small businesses that position themselves effectively online are the ones who are going to prosper in this day and age. Small businesses that rely on the yellow pages, display ads, networking groups, and word of mouth are finding that these methods just aren’t as effective as they once were.

There are likely thousands of people searching on Google alone for your services or products each and every month. Let’s take a look at an example of a florist who is in Miami, Florida to get a sense of how we can go about doing market research and then using the 2 key SEO factors to ensure high Google rankings.

 3. 3.

Small Business SEO: A Case Study of a Miami Florist

You’ll want to switch out the keywords of Miami florist for your own business so you can follow this process. Using the Google keyword tool , we can get a sense of how many people are searching for flowers in Miami every month.

 4. 4.

We see here that around 18-20,000 people are typing in various keyword combinations to buy flowers in the Miami area. So, the goal of a Miami florist would be to rank in the top 3 spots for the main keywords ‘flowers Miami’ and ‘florist Miami’. Whoever owns this top spot will get about 40% of the total traffic from Google every month, which would give them about 6-8,000 unique qualified visitors month in and month out!

Can you see how this amount of traffic would pretty much set up a florist in Miami for the long-term?

 5. 5.

Generating this much traffic every month on autopilot will absolutely destroy traditional off line marketing methods, as the sheer amount of qualified traffic and exposure from small business SEO is virtually is virtually impossible to compete with in a cost-effective manner.

At this point, I’m sure you’re wondering how to position yourself in this way on Google?

 6. 6. Let’s cover the 2 key factors:

Small Business SEO Step #1

On-page SEO ~ This is the process where you set up your website to be easily recognized for what you do and where you do it by the major search engines. Using the Miami florist example, here is how I would set up the on page SEO if I was trying to get on the first page of Google for the main keywords related to this niche:

Set up a WordPress blog to market my business (this is hands down the best way to do SEO in this day and age)

Install the all-in-one SEO pack plugin on my blog

Create a series of keyword-targeted blog posts around how to choose a flower company in the Miami area

Use the all-in-one SEO pack to set up the right title tags, meta tag description and keywords for each post

Install the SEO pressor plugin (click the banner below to learn more) ~ This is a paid plugin that will make sure you have every single on page SEO factor set up on your blog posts, such as header tags, image alt tags, keyword density, bolding keywords, and so on. This is an outstanding plugin that will dramatically increase your chances of owning the first 3 top spots in Google

 7. 7.

Small Business SEO Step #2

Off-page SEO ~ Depending on how competitive a keyword is, you may need to do off page SEO, or link building, to secure a top 3 ranking on Google. For instance, if we look at the keyword ‘flowers miami’ that gets 12,000 unique visitors, we see that there are over 9 million competing web pages for this keyword.

With a competition of 9 million, this will be a fairly challenging keyword to rank for, which means we need to combine the on page SEO with a link building strategy. What we would need to do is use article directories, press release sites, and social bookmarking sites to create a lot of back links to our floral site. There are hundreds of article directories on the internet that will allow 1-2 hyperlinks back to the article writer’s websites. Although this is somewhat time-consuming, it’s a great way to do off page SEO. The best tool I have found to do this is Unique Article Wizard , which will distribute your article to hundreds of article directories on auto-pilot.

 8. 8.

In the resource box of the article directories, you would add anchor text in your link for the keywords you want to rank for, so the live links that the reader clicks on would be your actual keywords. If I get enough requests, I will write a whole blog post about how to do this.

If you implement both off page and on page SEO for your small business website, you should see a substantial increase in qualified traffic coming to your website within a 2 month period. Small business SEO is largely overlooked by most business owners because I don’t think they really see the incredible benefit of ranking high in Google, especially if their niche gets thousands of searches every month.

If you’d like to learn more about SEO and internet marketing for your small business, you can go to my Online Mastery Training website and download my free webinar, the 3 month blueprint to your internet empire.

There are certainly some other small business SEO strategies you can implement that utilize online video marketing, social media, and a variety of other methods, but the foundation is really based on effective on and off page SEO. As a small business owner, I strongly encourage you to take small business SEO seriously, as you will undoubtedly benefit for years to come.
