MATHLETICS Mathletics – Costs: individual students can purchase a regular licence, purchased directly over the internet by their parents, for $99 per year. an annual licence is available to schools who make a bulk purchase of one or more complete classes - $30 per student. schools are entitled to use the Teacher and Admin Centre which contain Course Creator, Task Manager and Class Markbook.
    11. 11. MATHLETICS Mathletics – Research: It is documented that “current digital technologies have the potential to enhance primary children’s mathematical learning. The internet allows children to venture into the enormous world of mathematics beyond the classroom”. The subject of mathematics websites and their value to enhance learning is covered extensively. Specific reference is made to the characteristics of such websites including global interaction and communication with peers and mentors, dynamic information access and far-reaching independent research potential. MATHLETICS Mathletics – Research: Recent research titled “Mathletics: Does it enhance achievement in mathematics?” was conducted by Deakin University on behalf of the Association of Independent Schools of Victoria (AISV). After 73 pages, it concludes that “to summarize these findings in a single sentence is difficult, but in answer to the original research question, ‘Does Mathletics enhance achievement in mathematics?’, the answer is demonstrably “Yes”. It goes on to state that “engagement in, and enjoyment of, mathematics was enhanced for students using Mathletics”. Parents, too, were pleased with the effects of Mathletics on their children.

MATHLETICS Mathletics – Conclusion: Based on the available research and our own use of the mathletics program, we agree that it is an effective e-learning resource for enhancing mathematic enjoyment and improving results. The program was very easy to use and covers the full spectrum of topics which are aligned with the Victorian maths curriculum. Some of our favourite feature of the application were: the opportunity to create our own avatar, which personalises the process; Competing against the computer and international students; Receiving immediate visual feedback and support
