  3. 3. A d v e n c e <ul><li>Advance construction of the CVN-21 project began on August 11, 2005 with the beveling of a 15-ton metal plate at Northrop Grumman Newport News' shipyards in Virginia. This metal plate will eventually be used in the construction of CVN-78. </li></ul>construction Az előzetes szerkezet a CVN-21. Operational and Building Data <ul><li>First unit (CVN-78) is scheduled to begin construction in 2007 and to be placed in commission in 2014 to replace USS Enterprise (CVN-65), by then 53 years old. The Navy's FY2006 budget submission, however, defers procurement by one year; she would then enter service in 2015, thus creating a temporary (at least one year) reduction in the carrier force. </li></ul>Az első egység (CVN-78) építése 2007-ben megkezdődött és 2014-ben állt volna hadrendbe, hogy felváltsa az 53 éves Enterprise (CVN-65) repülőgép hordozót, de a haditengerészet FY2006 költségvetési terve egy éves halasztást, 2015-öt jelez; így ideiglenesen (legalább egy éves) a csapásmérő és szállítóerő csökkenése.

The FY2006-2011 Future Years Defense Program (FYDP), however, defers procurement beyond FY2011. </li></ul><ul><li>Third and final (?) unit (CVN-80), would be procured &quot;a few years after&quot; CVN-79. </li></ul>A második egység (CVN-79) építését 2012-ben hadrendbe állítását 2018-ban tervezik és a FY2006-2011 Future Years Defense Program (FYDP), azaz a Jövőbeli Évek Védelmi Programjában az eredeti terv szerint a FY2011-ben szerepel. A harmadik és a többi (?) egységet (CVN-80), néhány évvel a CVN-79 után tervezik beszerezni.

Ford, Jr. became the fourth consecutive President to have served in the US Navy. He was the first vice president in American history to succeed to the nation's highest office because of the resignation of a president, and he was the first person to occupy the White House without being elected either president or vice president. </li></ul><ul><li>Ford acted vigorously to maintain US power and prestige after the collapse of Cambodia and South Vietnam. Preventing a new war in the Middle East remained a major objective. Detente with the Soviet Union continued. </li></ul>CVN-78 is named after Gerald Rudolph Ford , Jr. (1913–2006), 38th President of the USA (1974–1977).
