Sf performances listening report may 21

  1. 1. San Francisco Performances Listening Report May 21, 2010 POSITIVE MENTIONS: Summarize the key themes: Is this what you want people to know, think, feel, or do? Has anything changed when you look at the themes over time? Most of the mentions this week were reviews of a concert over the weekend, the last one of our season. Link to a couple of examples: Title of Post/Article, Author Pull out any insightful quotes http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/05/17/DDLU1DG03R.DTL Baritone Eugene Brancoveanu is one of those performers with such an innately theatrical gift that even a song recital becomes an exercise in musical dramatics. At its best, his dynamic and often thrilling appearance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, presented Sunday afternoon by San Francisco Performances, burst the usual boundaries of the recital. http://www.sfcv.org/reviews/san-francisco-performances/vocal-splendor-from-eugene- brancoveanu How could I not lose myself completely in the wondrous beauty of baritone Eugene Brancoveanu’s voice during the first set of his Sunday afternoon, San Francisco Performances- sponsored recital? The sound in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Concert Hall was so glorious that it called to mind the words of the great Italian basso Ezio Pinza…. NEGATIVE MENTIONS: Summarize the key themes : What is a perception? What is a true complaint? How can you address it or fix the problem? Who needs to know? New issue or recurring? 2. 2. http://operatattler.typepad.com/opera/eugene_brancoveanu/ San Francisco Performances was kind enough to provide me a press ticket to this event, and as a result I sat behind the Chronicle reviewer, who pointed out an error in program notes, which lists Sir Edward Elgar as being the composer of Russia Cast Adrift. The late seating just after this work was performed, and a woman in leopard print climbed over said reviewer before deciding she ought to sit with her friends in the center of Row H instead, and duly climbed over him again. It may have been her mobile phone that rang twice in the middle of Schubert's "Die Stadt." NEUTRAL MENTIONS: Summarize the key themes: Mentions of our new season, calendar mentions of one last concert coming up, which was rescheduled due to artist injury. ACTION: Summarize what you’ve learned related to your program, brand, or issue. What decisions can you make? We seem to have hit a plateau with our facebook page, and media mentions. Hoping that starting to do twitter will kickstart the conversation. Describe in a sentence any ideas for applying the information in your outreach, messaging, program improvement, etc. Created by Beth Kanter, Beth’s Blog http://www.bethkanter.org http://artssocialmedia.wikispaces.com
  3. 3. We are going to set up our Twitter account to make more noise in cyberspace. Goal is to begin tweeting right before our 2010-2011 season begins in October. New Ideas for content, programs, etc. Influencers: Identify any individuals that you think may be influencers in the social media space that you want to cultivate Came up with a strong list of influencers to follow on Twitter, hopefully that will lead to more interaction. We’re also on the lookout for new influencers we may not be aware of. Engagement: Where have you engaged with individuals? A bit on Facebook. Also getting more people following up on Twitter, even though we haven’t yet begun tweeting. DISTRIBUTION: Who should receive a copy of the report? Directors of Marketing, Public Relations and Education. Do you need to point a specific listening data point to a particular program or individual? Not sure what this question means.
