  5. 5. Hula Implements Workshop Na Kani O Hula has been doing demonstrations and teaching classes and workshops on the making of various hula instruments since 1995. Gayle and Kent are honored for the opportunity to provide hula dancers throughout Hawai’i and worldwide with their hula implements. Both take pride in their work and strive to maintain their reputation for quality products. Gayle’s background in agriculture led to the birth of Na Kani O Hula through her successful methods of farming ipu in Kula, Maui. Her many years as a hula dancer also gives her an understanding of how each instrument will be used. Kent’s main focus is his work on ipuheke and pu’ili.
