    • Titles

    • Received his B.A. in Faculty of Environmental Information in 2000 and his M.A. in Graduate School of Media and Governance in 2002, both from Keio University.
    • For six years (2002-2008), as executive manager of SIV Entrepreneur Laboratory at Keio University, his involvement with the SIV Entrepreneur Lab demonstrates his commitment to innovation. He has designed and overseen courses and workshops on entrepreneurship at Keio University. He has also been involved with several technology start-up companies.

      • The 20 th century style innovation system has been exhausted = termination of research institute by large enterprises
      • “ Open Innovation” is becoming the key element in 21 st century style innovation system.
      • Universities are the main source of intellectual properties for open innovation.
      • The global competition for generating innovation by universities has been started = Acquiring enough research budget is one of the most important element for this competition.
      • After financial crisis, new global financial infrastructure must been designed to generate innovation.
    • From My Past Activities
      • Based on past 6 years’ experience on university-based incubation activities, noticed about the gap between basic research and applied research, the gap between industry and academia, and the lack of research budgets.

      • RQ2: How to bridge the chasm to accelerate university-based innovation system.
    • Hypothesis
      • Huge financial chasm exist in the second half of basic research.
      • Equity based financial support may be effective for the second half of basic research.
