Rashid: When I work with any business, I push the needs and goal of ecological design. I designed cheap shoes in South America for Melissa. They have a best 100% reclaimable plant, so almost all their PVC is created with no waste materials. I have used the technique of flocking to create distinctive textures in the naturally degradable, vegan shoes also.

  • 2. • Karim Rashid is one of the most recognizable merchandise designers of his genesis. In most design groups, he is regarded as well known just as much as he is famous
  • 3. • . Theres no denying that he is productive with over 3000 products in generation in more than 35 nations around the world along with numerous awards and honorary doctorates from the Ontario College of Art & Layout and Corcoran University of Art & Design...creating the case that individuals that think little of him are envious of his good results
  • 4. • . Either way, Rashid is not known for his sustainability - he is known more for objects and putting on only pink and/or white. When I noticed him buying vitamins at the local Total Foods sporting pink from visit toe - I had to ask for an job interview to find out if theres any green as part of his sensitivity.

I created the Method line that is made up of completely 100% biodegradable cleaning products
  • 7. • We have attempted re-making Umbra Garb out of Corn-plastic, and also designed Global, a self-watering plantation owner system.• I have discovered sustainable living through convention concept houses such as Corian Smart-illogic which was shown in Cairo for DuPont.
  • 8. • For me it is important for us to push these notions with our customers. There is no splendour without health and the surroundings needs to stay wholesome.
  • 9. • TH: Do you think the growth and attention in green design is good or bad for product designers?• Rashid: I think growth in green design is important, and required to move forward. We want to design better in buy to consumer less.
  • 10. • We need to use new technologies and improvements to improve our environment, and to choose much healthier options.• To add more to ones life, one can also subtract or remove, so that instead of eating, one de-consumes, a theory of add- on by subtraction, where less can be more.
  • 11. • But not in the Meridian ideal of more is a lesser amount of (Miens Van de Roe 1939), not a minimum or reductive tactic. Instead, a way of enriching ones life, of increasing experiences through stunning things, through things that we love, to edit our alternatives and have a richer life - creating in the long run the most essential luxury of the 21st,hundred- free-time.
