What is Mobile Marketing
• Mobile marketing connects the
University to students, alumni, and
friends through a mobile device
• Requires the user’s explicit permission
Pull Marketing
• Advertising and promotional strategies that are
meant to entice the prospect to act and engage in
your brand.
• Value, relevant, timely
• Common fun and engaging communucations are
promotions, surveys, quizzes, voting, contests.*
*certain contests like sweepstakes and games of chance are not allowed
How do we connect?
Audience must opt-in to receive:
• SMS Text Message
• WAP – Mobile Website
• Application for Device (think iPhone apps)

• Ability to receive SMS text messages
• Mobile phone with data plan

marketing material. Examples include:

mobile website where you will find relevant,
valuable, and timely content.

Mobile Application
Apple is right - There really is an app for everything
• Applications “live” on your phone
• There is usually an icon on your mobile main menu
• When you open the application it connects to the
mobile internet and content refreshed
• The app has five main menu options to enter
• SMS Text Messages are used to nudge users to
application (8 per month)

event calendar info feeds, content)
• We need your fresh ideas to improve campaigns
and content
