  • 2. What is a podcast?
    • Podcasting is a way to post and distribute media online for others to listen to.
    • 3. A podcast is a regularly-produced series of posts: like radio broadcasts, episodes in a television series, or entries in a personal journal.
    • 4. Podcasts are inexpensive and many amateur and even professionals produce podcasts regularly.
    • 5. You can download podcasts on anything from popular food recopies to technology instructions.
  • Since When??
The term podcasting was coined in 2004
Came from combining the words ipod and broadcasting

  • 9. PUBLISHING
“At the most basic level you need enough storage space to host the podcast audio file, enough bandwidth to support the subscribers to your podcast, and an RSS 2.0 feed for people to subscribe to. Hosting options become complicated when you reach a large audience of subscribers. Most of the cheap Web hosting services aren't designed to handle transfer of large files.”
  • 10. Publishing Cont.
RSS- (most commonly expanded as "Really Simple Syndication" but sometimes "Rich Site Summary") is a family of web feed formats used to publish
Bandwidth- a data transmission rate; the maximum amount of information (bits/second) that can be transmitted along a channel
    Places to publish FREE!

    • “Research company eMarketer projects advertisers spent $80-million on podcasting advertising in 2006. By 2010, that number is expected to reach $300 million.”- About.com
    • 12. Usually about 15 seconds either at the beginning, middle, or end of the podcast
