  • 15. Create a Plan Get Buy-In of Attack Learn from Be Willing to Your Mistakes Make Tradeoffs (and Successes)Connect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif
  • 16.  For integration management to be effective, you need to get buy-in from key project stakeholders and team members. Getting buy-in from the get go will ensure that your project receives the support and funding needed for it to be successful.  To get buy-in, start by creating a project charter and a preliminary project scope statement.Connect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif
  • 17.  Now that you have a project charter and the objectives of the project have been clearly defined, it is time to create a plan of attack. Start by identifying the activities needed to effectively execute, manage, and monitor the project. Project management software can really help with this step and allows you to plan and monitor the project from anywhere at anytime. The software helps you create the project timeline and tasks, allocate the required resources, and get the day-to-day status updates needed to effectively manage the project.Connect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif
  • 18.  One of the biggest challenges you will face in executing the project is managing people, their opinions, and the changes they request. For you to be effective, you must be willing to make tradeoffs. Everybody won‟t get everything they want, but the project should meet the objectives and requirements established in the project charter.Connect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif
  • 19.  Hopefully, before you ever started the project, you clearly defined what it means for the project to be "officially" complete. As you close the project, verify that all of the project activities are complete and that the final product or service meets the expectations of the client and/or stakeholders. Obtain a written approval of the project completion.  Once the project has been formally closed, it is now time to learn from your mistakes and successes. Organize a formal review meeting and hold a brainstorming session where you list all of the mistakes made during the project. Now make a list of all the things that went right. How can you learn from this experience? What are the takeaways from project and how can you prepare for these challenges in your next project? This exercise will build team comradery and will help you be more effective in your next project.Connect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif
  • 20.  In project management, the term scope has two distinct uses: Project Scope and Product Scope.  Project Scope "The work that needs to be accomplished to deliver a product, service, or result with the specified features and functions." [1]  Product Scope "The features and functions that characterize a product, service, or result." [2]Connect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif

  • 30. Stakeholders are anyone who has an interest in the project. Project stakeholders are individuals and organizations that are actively involved in the project, or whose interests may be affected as a result of project execution or project completion. They may also exert influence over the project‟s objectives and outcomes. The project management team must identify the stakeholders, determine their requirements and expectations, and, to the extent possible, manage their influence in relation to the requirements to ensure a successful projectConnect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif
  • 31. • Project leader • Project team members • SMT / TOP management The following • Project customer are examples • Resource Managers • Project testers of project • Sponsor/donor stakeholders: • Line Managers • User group or project and productConnect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif
  • 32.  There are narrower views of the term stakeholder, focusing on the influencers and decision makers of a business or technological change.  In this context, stakeholders are managers who have the organizational authority to allocate resources (people, money, services) and set priorities for their own organizations in support of a change.  They are the people who make or break a change.Connect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif
  • 33.  The rationale for this emphasis on decision maker is reinforced by the views of John Kotter, a professor at the Harvard Business School and the author of numerous books on corporate culture, change and leadership.  In an interview published in CIO Insight magazine, Kotter said,  "Ive seen too many technology projects get dumped on project teams and task forces that simply dont have enough clout, enough credibility, connections, you name it, to be able to do a difficult job, and so, surprise, surprise, they start getting frustrated and the powerful people in the company just ignore them or do what they want to do anyway. …Also, on a lot of the IT projects, if you go up to the typical line manager and say to him, „Youve got this big thing going on here. Whats the vision? Paint a picture for me. Hows the company going to be different in 18 months when this is all done?‟ They cant even see it. So of course they havent bought into it. And if they havent bought into it, are they going to cooperate?"Connect: Asif KabaniSkype: kabaniasif | facebook: kabani.asif
