Apple Isan American multinational corporation, that designs and sells electronics, software and computers. The company is best known for hardware products such as iMac their line of computer, iPod, iPhone and iPad. Founded in April 1, 1976. Apple is the world’s third-largest mobile phone maker after Samsung and Nokia. Founders Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Ronald Wayne.
The main people within Apple are; Tim Cook, Arthur D. Levinson, Steve Jobs and Sir Jonathan Ive. Apple is a public company therefore anyone can buy a share in Apple.
Apple is vertically integrated, with everything done under one roof. Vertical integration is where everything is produced, exhibit and distribution. All Apple’s profit stay within Apple, but this increases the risk that if the company fails all the money will be lost. iPhone/iPod iTunes iMac
Apple’s competitors are anything who creates similar products to Apple such as, computers:- Windows, Dell. Phones – Nokia, Samsung. MP3 players – Sony, Polaroid. Recent years they have branched out considerably on online media (itunes, mobileme, iphone) so you can factor in Napster and other legal music download sites, Hotmail and Gmail, and Nokia, Samsung, Blackberry and alike.
Apple customers are usually business men due to the fast internet. Apple products are made for everyone from all walks of life, for what is on apple products it is very good value for money. Products are suitable for children/teenagers up to old people.
Apple is organised by in the best way, with CEO’s, Directors, product designers and then the product makers. The company is vertically intergrated. With CEO’s such as Steve Jobs there are then10 Senior Vice Presidents: CFO, COO, Operations, Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, iOS software, Worldwide Product Marketing, Industrial Design, Retail and General Counsel
Apple have always been criticised to the price of their products as their price range for most products is £300+ Apple always have a lot of problems once new software has come out as finer details haven’t been dealt with. Also it has been alleged of being a sweatshop labor.
